My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

I've got an enclosed area where I can supervise him on his lead. But there are two areas of concern. One is that he will be tempted to jump the fence, and two, there is a reasonable gap between my fence and neighbours that he could squeeze through. Not sure what else you meant. The only other place he can go unsupervised (still on harness & lead) is a small patch of garden at the front of the unit. I will eventually enclose it so he can have a safe place to be outside, but for now there could be some significant territorial issues with another cat who is allowed to roam free in the complex. If I keep him inside constantly he will urinate on the bedding, furniture, etc. I don't want that starting up again.

Re: My special place

No you dont want that @Sans911
He may have to be supervised for a while since the areas that he can be in arent quite ideal.

Missing you too @Zoe7 , but so glad everything is working out at work for you.

I am going ok. Had a course on Monday that goes for 10 weeks and then psych today. You are probably busy with DBT and your pdoc today. I hope it goes well

Re: My special place

What course are you doing @Snowie? Have you heard about the DBT course yet?

I had a more difficult pdoc appointment today but I am dealing with it quite well. I am very tired and haven't moved from the couch since I got home - Toby is keeping me company of course 🐶 How is Izzy? Is she still on supervised backyard outings?

Re: My special place

The course is sort of like an intro to the dbt course. Some things I have heard before but there are other things that are new. The DBT course should be starting sometime in April but I havent got an exact date yet.

I read on ANC that your pdoc appt. was more difficult. I hope you got something out of it. Your pdoc must think you are ready for harder topics.

Izzy is going good, the fence has been fixed so she is allowed out on her own now. Just hoping it has been fixed enough that she won't jump it but only time will tell.

Re: My special place

Yeah it was a more difficult session today but I am dealing with it better than I would have this time last year @Snowie We didn't delve too deeply into the past but more acknowledged that there is a big history of trauma and that feeds into my self-doubt feelings. It is nice to be able to acknowledge that I am dealing with it all better though and despite me not feeling much better about myself there are glimpses of it there - and that is gold right now.

Hopefully you will find out about the start date for DBT soon. I am thinking this may be my last module but I haven't discussed that with my pdoc yet. I think as the weather begins to get colder and I get more into the school year then the Wednesdays will be rest days. I am thinking more about needing to do that extra work and also looking after myself with enough time to myself. It is my second round of DBT and I am using a lot of the skills without consciously thinking about them now - so it has been beneficial but it may also be time for me to finish with it too. I'll have a chat to my pdoc towards the end of this module.

It is great the fence is fixed - that tricky little Izzy hopefully stays in now. Cat went over the fence chasing another cat the other day and would only come back when I got food out for her. I had to climb the fence still to grab her as she couldn't get back herself - Toby of course was supervising so that made it harder to grab her. He goes running around the backyard when there is another cat out there so between the 2 of them not cats stay for long - very good guard dog/cat lol
