Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

I often get up early @Snowie but don't jump online usually. Tossing and turning for too long this morning so here I am. I saw you over here and wanted to say hi. I'm around if you'd like some company.

Re: My special place

@CheerBearyea havent been to sleep. Got too much on my mind so been on the couch for about the last hour or two.

Have had a huge week so haven't really had a chance to read back.

How are you going? How are the LF?

Re: My special place

I was just catching up on the last couple of pages @Snowie. I can relate to some of the fears you've mentioned having. I am happy to listen to you and share how I worked through it with my kids if you'd like.

For the most part I am going ok thanks. Better than I was a couple of weeks ago. LF can be a big handful sometimes, but they're ok too. They tag team with their stuff which makes it hard for me to catch up with them sometimes!

Re: My special place

@CheerBearit would be great if you could tell me how you worked through it with your kids. It is Miss 12 I am worried about the most. She is very cluey and smart and would need quite a detailed explanation.

Kids can be a handful at times. Mine at the moment seem to be best friends or worst enemies!

I am glad you are doing better than a couple of weeks ago. I hope you got the kitchen sorted or should I say the owner got the kitchen sorted.

Re: My special place

I can definitely see how miss 12 would be worrying you @Snowie. My big was my big worry too. I remember I spoke with the kids about how I was running low and I needed a chance to recharge just like a battery, so I could keep going. Big still, only yesterday, spoke about batteries and now uses it to tell me where they are at.

At some point I remember coming around to the idea that in being admitted I was showing them it was essential to look after ourselves too. I also thought about how often MH was misunderstood or quiet or not spoken of by my family, and how much harder it made it for me to get support. By bringing it up and out, I hope I taught/teach my kids that there is no shame in it and that it is ok to not be ok all of the time.

In saying that, it was mega hard and heart breaking to do. They were much younger the first time and in a way that was easier than last year (the second time).

Re: My special place

@Snowie you have been up all night worrying ? If it is worrying you so much maybe not tell them just say you have to go to 🏥 for a few days. As I said its a hard one and you never know what to do. When I was a child I remember my father playing and singing to "When I'm sixty four" on his organ... I remember being traumatised running in my room to cry, first time I knew about old age .

Re: My special place

Thanks @CheerBear, that is a good way of putting it and I like the refrence to the batteries.

They know something (well Miss 12 does) is different. I havent worked since last July and they know that something happened at work. Of course they will never know about my childhood traumas.

We have told them that i am not working because there was an incident at work and I needed some time off. They know I go and speak to someone everyweek but don't know who it is of course. So they have been informed a bit, this is just a big step of course.

It is hard because if it was physical it would be so much easier to explain to the little people. MH makes it all that more tricky. But I do agree with you that it is a good lesson for them to learn, that their mental health is just as important as their physical health.
