My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

Hello lovely, @Snowie

How are you this week?

I understand what you have shared about motivation and mood, it's so incredibly tough. Breaking it down into very small steps is a brilliant strategy. I often do this as well.

Do you find having H to encourage or do things with you helps at all? 🫶

It's wonderful that you have been able to acknowledge that this thought pattern is present for you. Many of our habitual reactions and thoughts serve some kind of purpose (even if they aren't always very helpful in the moment!). I wonder what this voice is trying to tell you or what it might need to soften?

Maybe it's okay that you need to surrender to your safe space more often? It's not uncommon to notice shifts in energy or direction when we fully allow ourselves to be where we are at - it's often our inner resistance that makes change feel more challenging. In essence, I am encouraging you to allow yourself to really be in your safe space (if that feels okay). 🥰

Hi @AuntGlow

The last week has been hard. I'm hoping it gets a little easier but I guess time will tell.

H does help. He gets me out of the house. Will make me go places with him. Whilst at the time I don't like going out, I know that it helps me.

I guess during the week is the time when I struggle the most. When no one else is home.

My voice from within is very critical. At times I try not to listen to it. To try and give myself a break. Sometimes I can dull it, ignore it, but most of the time it likes to be loud and consistent.

Being in my safe space does help. It helps in giving myself a break. Not having to be on alert as much. It helps just being in the moment.

Re: My special place

Made it through lunch with the help of prn. Held a fidget toy most of the time so I didn't dissociate.

He didn't stay for long so that helped. Didn't have to talk much to him.

Home now, just getting ready for tonight. At least that should be a little easier.

Re: My special place

Hello @Snowie 💛

How has this week been for you? Have you and H done anything for yourselves/the kids over the Easter weekend?

I totally hear you on the things being hard when you're on your own front - the loud inner critic too. I am curious to know if you resonate with the idea of finding flow being helpful? The BlackDog Institute have a short article about it here: https://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/resources-support/wellbeing/improve-wellbeing/flow/ I would love to hear your thoughts!

Being in the moment and less on alert sound incredibly helpful for you right now. I really encourage you to honour that this is your safe space, and more importantly, that you are allowed to connect to this space whenever you need to. 🥰

Re: My special place

Hi @AuntGlow

Its been a hard week. I saw my brother Saturday. I haven't seen him for a long time due to many reasons. Struggled a lot in the lead up to this. Brought lots of memories back to the forefront. It took a lot just to walk through the door and see him.

Had dinner with the kids tonight but not much else. Still brought them some chocolate in though they are 18 and 20!!

I do have things that I do which are my "flow" Doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, watching certain tv shows, crossword puzzles, chess and a few more.

It can be hard at times to get in the flow, but when I can, it does help. It's also a nice feeling, having a break from myself and my thoughts.

Right now, I'm just trying to get through the days as well as I can. Just taking it day by day. My mum is taking up a lot of my time lately which hasn't been helping but it is what it is.
