Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

@rav3n @GezzaP I've been using my SP, trying to keep myself occupied

I did call LL before

There is not much anyone can do

I told mum she needs to really think about it and that I cannot give her the same care she is getting now. That didn't go well

MIL did come home the other day, but went right back in. They try and get them out as quick as possible even if they shouldn't go home. I guess that is public hospitals for you.

Re: My special place

@GezzaP oh gosh, neck and back pain can be so frustrating to get rid off. and then the headache on top it! have you tried physio before?

@Snowie as hard as it is to be honest with her, you did the right thing. it's a difficult position to be put in, but i know that you're doing what's best for both her and yourself. that's tough about MIL too, i hope she's able to get the rest and recovery she needs this time.

what's your plans for tonight? cooking dinner or having some left overs?

Re: My special place

She's angry at the moment with me @rav3n She said I was giving up on her, just letting her rot in there. I ended up walking out on her. I couldn't handle her plus whats happening with me atm.

I actually put everything in the slow cooker this morning. So I didn't have to worry about during the day. I love my slow cooker, so easy to make so many different things. You chuck it all in there and then about 6 -8 hours later its ready.

The lady I actually spoke to before was nice. I know sometimes it's a hit and miss. I told her what I wanted to do. We talked about a plan for tonight.

I’ve been to physio but it takes forever to work and is so expensive. I do the physio exercises. Chiro works quicker and is much cheaper. But this time it is so bad I thought I might try acupuncture and also organise a massage.

@Snowie i've heard that people with dementia tend to get angry and agitated quite often and easily, so i can see how it's been hard on you both. she did say yes to staying there at some point, so i imagine she'll change her mind again? how often to do you visit mum?

oh wow, that's sounds great! don't think i've used a slow cooker before! what'd you end up making for tonight?

it is hard when it's a hit or miss, but i'm really glad that today's chat went well.

Re: My special place

She does get very agitated @rav3n

Even before her dementia she had a short fuse and would give her opinion, regardless of who she hurt. Now it seems like she does it even more.

It was her choice to go there. I did try and remind her of that.

I normally visit her about 3 times a week, but speak to her most days.

I love my slow cooker. I cook all different things in it, from cakes to slices to currys to pasta. Tonight was pasta Carbonara. Tomorrow night will be Beef curry with rice.

I'm trying to stick to the plan

Re: My special place

@Snowie ahh yep, that makes sense. it might be one of those things that she'll keep changing her mind about - but even if she doesn't remember, i hope you always remember that this was her choice and you're not in the wrong for reminding her that. she's honestly very lucky to have a daughter like you.

yummmm, i've been craving italian all week and now i want it even more haha. i didn't expect the slow cooker to make cakes too, that's amazing!

i'm heading off soon but pls do reach out if anything changes. take care 💙

Re: My special place

You can make lots in a slow cooker @rav3n

There is even a facebook page that people put recipes on!

Thanks for the company and for caring 💗

Re: My special place

So mum rung this morning. Told me she is heading to another country town for lunch on an outing with the Aged Care place she is with. She said she's looking forward to it.

I just said 'have fun' and that's it. No point bringing up yesterday.

So after yesterdays meltdown, today has been very quiet and non-eventful, which is what I probably needed. Made it to the couch and staying here.
