Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Hey @Snowie I'm here if you want to talk 💜

Re: My special place

Thanks @Ru-bee

I did something the other day, maybe just say an oops.

I speak to my pdoc tomorrow. Don't think he'll be happy. I know what he will want to do.

I've spent the last three hours going from one phone call to another to try and organise a walker for my mum, through her support plan. Rang the same place 3 times and got 3 different answers. No wonder people just give up. Easier just to buy one of Amazon.

Sorry you’re having a rough time @Snowie

I have my mum’s walker here and it’s still in perfect condition. Frustrating because I could give it to you.

It is good to have you back on the forum as you’ve been missed. ❤️❤️❤️

Re: My special place

Gald you're able to talk to your pdoc about it @Snowie, its good that you're able to be open with him

That sounds so frustrating getting the run around with the walker. You'd think they'd want to make it easy to get these essential aids out to people, but sometimes it seems like it's deliberately difficult. Is it getting sorted now or is a 4th call needed?

Re: My special place

Thanks @Eve7 @Ru-bee

I wasn't in a position to come on here. I'm still very hesitant as to what I can say.

My pdoc already knows what happened. The Dr I saw spoke to him. I did think of cancelling as I don't see much point now, it's already done, I already stuffed up. But I hate cancelling so late, so will attend tomorrow.

@Ru-bee I am now waiting for a phone call. Mum has been approved for equipment via aged care, but, she now has to be approved through an OT to actually get the walker. That could take ages and she needs it now.

Trying to navigate around aged care I can see why people give up. The hoops you have to jump through, the approvals you need, the money to get those approvals is just stupid. And even though they know mum has Dementia they wanted to speak to her. As if she can remember or understand what to do, she didn't even know which way to walk around Aldi this morning.

After much back and forth, I can finally speak for her.

Seeing the OT will probably cost more than the walker, so not much point.

Sorry, rant over

Rant away @Snowie I never mind listening to that stuff and sometimes you really do just need to vent!

Re: My special place

Thanks @Ru-bee

Navigating our health system is a nightmare for both myself and mum.

Maybe they make it hard in order for people just to give up and not bother with it. Getting approved doesn't mean you are approved. Guess that saves them money.

Everyone is upset with me at the moment for different reasons. It is a struggle, the want is there.

Re: My special place

I hear you @Snowie It might be cynical but sometimes it does feel like that must be it, so many services are just so hard to actually use! Good on you for persevering, I'm hoping that this next call is the last one and the walker gets sorted.

I'm off in a few minutes so I'll say bye now, let me know how you go with it though. I'll chat to you later
