My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

It was cookies and cream @Ru-bee with milo over the top!!

I had no energy left to cook and Hubby had the same. I think he enjoyed it too

Now I'm having a cup of tea. Peppermint tea.

Anzac biscuits for dinner sounds good too!

Was hoping to make a big batch of sausage rolls tomorrow. Have everything I need, just need the motivation to do so.

Do you cook much or like cooking?

Re: My special place

Yummmmmmm @Snowie That sounds amazing!

I love homemade sausage rolls but I've never tried to make them myself, do you have a go-to recipe that you use?

I do cook most days and I don't mind it, some days I even enjoy it but that's more on the weekends when I can try a new recipe, maybe have a glass of wine while I cook. The day to day cooking can be tiring. Luckily tonight my partner's on dinner duty since I'm working later, he's whipping up some steaks now

Re: My special place

I sort of have a recipe for sausage rolls @Ru-bee I add things but it's just a bit of this and a bit of that. No real measurements. I cook a lot of them and then freeze them in little bags of 5. Then they are there if the kids or hubby/me wants them. Can just put them in the microwave or air fryer.

I love trying new recipe's. The family normally let me know if I can cook them again.

I do have a few meals I do that my nana used to cook. When she passed away I got her old recipes. Now I cook them for my kids.

Steak for tea sounds yummy. H doesn't cook much (normally because he is working) but does a good bbq.

Re: My special place

I love that kind of cooking, just feeling it out @Snowie that's how I like to cook once. Those sound great to have on hand!

That's so beautiful that you have those recipes from your nana and can share them with your kids now. That has actually reminded me that my gran gave me a recipe book that she had started to fill herself with her favourites. I've started collecting recipes from my partner's mum too whenever I come across a new dish. His family is Greek so there's lots of things I hadn't cooked before that I like trying. Cooking and sharing recipes can be such a lovely way to feel connected.

Sounds a bit the same as here - I cook most nights because I work from home so can start getting dinner ready the moment I finish which just makes sense. Once a week when I work later I get my partner to cook and he mostly does a meat and 2 or 3 veg meal. But he is on breakfast duty in the morning so it evens out

Re: My special place

I think those recipes that are handed down are the best @Ru-bee

I have a vegetable soup recipe that my Nan used to make, then my mum made whenever we were sick and then I make for my kids when they are sick.

I used to love walking into my Nan's place. She was always cooking something. It always smelled amazing. A memory from my childhood that I'll always remember.

Those Greek recipes would be great. I'm sure your partner likes you cooking them too.

Re: My special place

Oh, so you still have one 'kid' who needs ferrying around @Snowie . Am I right in saying that your daughter can also drive him? Or is this not allowed? I don't know the most up to date rules.

Hope you're okay. I have not yet read back since we last spoke.

Thinking of you.

Didn't your mum have an appointment today?

Re: My special place

What a beautiful memory to have of your nan @Snowie I can imagine cooking her recipes makes you feel very close to her 💜

It's about that time for me to head off for the evening. I hope the sausage rolls go well tomorrow!

Thanks for chatting tonight, it's inspired me to get my gran's recipes out and cook something from there this weekend

Re: My special place

Thanks for tonight @Ru-bee and for keeping me company. I'm not sure if you realise just how much it has helped and given my head a break from myself.

I hope you enjoy your steak
