I just popped on and feel like I've missed everyone so I was bursting to say hello @Snowie

I have a question for you. Have you had TMS before?

I have had TMS before. I've tried it a few times. I did it as an inpatient.

What was it like? Someone was asking me, so I thought I'd reach out and ask others @Snowie

Did you find any difference?

I'm guessing it didn't 'work' like ECT?

Was just like sitting in a dentist chair for about 30-40 minutes.

No pain/feeling whatsoever.

I would say it helped a little, but no where near it needed too. I did 20 sessions the first time and 20 sessions for second time. The 20 sessions where spaced out over 4 weeks. Both times I did it as an inpatient. I wouldn't say it was a success but it didn't do any harm either.

ECT certainly has helped me more than TMS did. I wouldn't say either one is a 'cure', but I guess they never were meant to be.

From my own understanding (note, this is my own understanding), both TMS and ECT stimulate less active parts of the brain, but unless you learn to 'use' those parts of the brain, then both provide short term relief?

I'm glad to hear you find ECT helpful nonetheless.

Some people find long term relief @tyme I guess no two people are the same however.

From my experience with ECT, I had it when my suicidal ideations and self harm thoughts were very high. It always came with a hospital stay, which I didn't like but didn't really have a choice.

I have done ECT as an outpatient before (always only a few sessions) but this is the first time where I am still having it monthly. They call it maintenance ECT.

I was never given the chance to do TMS as an outpatient. Both times when I went into hospital I was in a bad way, so not sure if it was the TMS or just being in hospital that helped. Perhaps if I continued it as an outpatient then I might have benefited from it even more.
