Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

Watching the footy too @Eve7

Last time I had ect it helped, so hoping this time is the same.

I don't think you are weak at all hon. In fact the opposite. I think you are one of the strongest people I've ever known. To go through all you have been through, most would have given up. Instead you have persevered and kept going. You have not let it beat you. Yes there have been some down times, times where you probably felt like giving up, but you didn't.

I look at you and think if she can do it so can I.

@Snowie she sounds cute. My placement supervisor had a dog and she stuck it up on her wall. She would talk about her dog with her clients, it helps with rapport building

Re: My special place

Thanks @Snowie you are very kind. I’m watching the NRL and I suppose you’re watching AFL….still it’s all footy 🏉

S1 just sent a pic of them at the Outback Spectacular. They look so happy and I think they’ve both found the right life partner.

Re: My special place

@creative_writer so yeah, it has triggered shame within you, so it's an unhelpful narrative for your recovery, and you can safely ignore it. I mean, why is it that this one psychologist's assessment of an 'overreaction' has to be the correct one? I don't think it is at all tbh

Ugh, more aro/ace erasure. You can ignore this entirely hun, I am living proof that it simply isn't true.

You can blame you, and her. Or in other words, neither of you deserve blame. It sounds like there's just some clashes within your respective value systems that are not lending themselves to a sense of trust and safety, resulting in you needing to withdraw. Maybe the psych was a good fit at the beginning, but that may have changed, or perhaps your needs have changed, that's all.

Re: My special place

She certainly is company @creative_writer especially when no one else is home. I can't imagine my life without her now.

@Eve7 I don't see it as kind, more like the truth. I know how hard it is to see it within ourselves however.

Yes watching AFL here. You are right, it is all footy!

I think when you find that person you know it. I'm so glad that they have found each other.

Re: My special place

@Jynx I think I’m also less clinical in my thinking. Psychology has long been pathologising. I know there has been movement towards changing language like x has bipolar instead of x is bipolar. Also the term neurodivergent. I don’t consider mental illness a pathology, even the term sounds so medical. I see mental health as a result of stresses (both physical and psychological stress) and trauma. Sometimes even physical illness can affect our mental health, gut microbiome and germ theory are also real.

When I was doing my undergrad there was a unit called “Abnormal Psych” which is a very a discriminatory term in my opinion. As you can see, I have very strong opinions. I have heard many neurodivergents have a strong sense of justice

@Snowie I need to get a fur child right now. They’re so much cheaper than human children. Though I am afraid if I get a pet I’ll want to stare at it all day and admire its cuteness

Re: My special place

I really do think that pets help with mental health @creative_writer

So many studies out there that back this up.

She does help with my MH especially with my anxiety.

You are right, they are cheaper!!

Re: My special place

@Snowie it is true pet therapy is a thing. Seeing cute things affects your physiology. I feel like we need more research into creative ways to manage mental health

Re: My special place

Would certainly be interesting research @creative_writer

I feel like I am betting everything on this hospital stay helping. I'm scared about the what if. What if it doesn't help.
