My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

Hi @creative_writer

D had the flu shot and has had some side effects too.

That matcha sounds yum. Just having a coffee getting ready for an afternoon of watching the footy.

Dog cuddles are the best. She is asleep on my lap at the moment!

Have you got any plans for this afternoon?

Re: My special place

@Snowie I hope you enjoy the footy. I’m sure you know more about it than I do. I don’t understand sports 😂.

I think many placements require the flu shot. I was fortunate my uni covered it. However, there were things I had to pay for in order to get certain checks cleared. I am thinking of applying for a scholarship, I just don’t know what my chances are. My MH and physical health make it hard to work, even when it’s just coursework. I have resorted to Austudy payments.

I don’t have much planned for the rest of the day. I feel like I should get a move on with assignments, I think my eyebrows need some grooming, thick eyebrow gal here

Re: My special place

I was brought up in a very sports orientated household @creative_writer so I think that's why I watch a lot these days.

D had to have the flu shot plus a few more vaccinations for her placements. On top of that about $800 worth of uniforms. Uni certainly isn't cheap.

Applying for a scholarship sounds like a great idea. You never know unless you try. No harm applying for it.

Hehe eyebrows hon. Just got mine all cleaned up the other day. Given up trying to do it myself.

Re: My special place

@Snowie those uniforms are really expensive. I’m lucky to not have one, but it is still costly nonetheless. It is not fair how students are expected to do a long placement and yet don’t get paid for it. They have to pay for it. Student living costs are crazy. Kind of why I’m still living at home, I couldn’t afford it otherwise. The travel to uni can be tiring, but so much cheaper than paying rent to live somewhere closer.

I don’t trust people with my eyebrows, that’s just me. I haven’t gotten them done professionally for a while, I just maintain them myself, I prefer them a bit bushier

Re: My special place

It's good that you can still live at home and go to uni @creative_writer It is really expensive when you add everything up.

D will have lots of placements and hours that she isn't paid for either. They should at least get some money to cover accommodation if they can't stay at home during those times.

Re: My special place

@Snowie D also lives with you, doesn’t she?

I’m lucky placement isn’t too far from where I live. They do try to give students placements close to their house. I didn’t get my first choice, but got my second, which is good enough

Re: My special place

Yes D still lives at home @creative_writer

She will have to get accommodation for some of her placements but hoping for most of them she can still stay at home.

Thats good that placement isn't too far from home. At least you will be able to drive there or catch public transport.

Re: My special place

@Snowie it is a bit harder when one is living in rural vic. It might be possible she may also be eligible for one of those placement scholarships, I know accomodation costs can add up, just a thought.

I’ll be taking public transport from train station

Re: My special place

Thanks @creative_writer will get her to look into that.

I know she can get cheap accommodation when she does placements that are not near home.

Even though we live rural, she has to do a certain amount of hours even more rural than us.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I wish her the best for her placement. Is it coming up soon?

Do you mean she has to do part of her placement in more rural areas than you are currently located?
