Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

They probably will be then @creative_writer

It is such a good course to do, I hope you are able to work at the end of it or at least it can help in your progress.

I try and at least have a shower most days, I figure that's good enough. Sometimes when I'm really depressed even a shower is hard enough.

It must be hard having hair that requires that much care. I'm lucky that mine just get oily when not washed.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I do hope this course does help me go into mental health. I think the plan is pretty much done, I can’t really focus right now. I feel angry and uneasy right now.

Washing hair everyday is hardly necessary anyways. Aiming for a shower a day is enough

Re: My special place

Hopefully the course does help @creative_writer It is always easier working in a field that we like. To have that love for a job is so needed.

Sorry to hear you feel angry and uneasy. Around if you need to talk.

Re: My special place

Maybe this sounds ungrateful @Snowie. I have been silenced for so long over trauma because other people did not want to talk about it. At times I wonder if I was able to talk about it and heal sooner maybe it wouldn't be this bad, maybe I wouldn't be having all these flashbacks. I had no one but myself, and I did what I thought was expected from me, to silence the pain. If it didn't feel real then I wouldn't hurt. If I denied then I wouldn't hurt. It felt like it happened to someone else. I'm not saying my parents don't care about me, but I had to stay put together to ease their burden. I have a sore head and a lot of pent up nervous energy (that keeps returning), everything is sort of coming out right now

Re: My special place

It is not being ungrateful @creative_writer People can still care about us, yet at the same time cannot deal with us talking to them about our mental health. It is like they are taboo words.

There are people in my life that would not cope if I talked about my MI. There are family/friends who don't know how to deal with me and don't know what to say to me. I'm not sure if they are to blame or not, maybe they were brought up not talking about their emotions.

Unfortunately we cannot change what has happened in the past. I often wonder if I dealt with my PTSD earlier then I wouldn't be as bad as I am now.

What we can do now is reach out to the support we have now and be thankful that we have support around us.

If it is coming out then let it all out. I guess the old saying 'better out then in' does apply.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I had doubts in seeking help professionally for trauma, my parents didn’t even want me to initially go into therapy, I had to fight for it and did for a while. I was still convinced that if I spoke about trauma nobody would understand even when I was actively in therapy. I had swallowed up my parents beliefs. It’s hard when people don’t want to talk about the taboo. Nor can I say they trust the system. Being on guard all the time is so exhausting. I think my parents grew up not talking about their emotions. I have seen my mum suppress her emotions over the years. And there may have been individuals from my extended family prone to addictive behaviour

Re: My special place

I understand to an extent @creative_writer My mum has told me on numerous occasions that psych's are only in it for the money, that I have gotten worse since I saw someone, that meds only make me worse, and plenty of other things about my MI. I have had to learn to ignore her. Those are her beliefs and not something that I have to believe in.

Being on guard all the time must be exhausting hon. It would take up so much energy.

I guess all you can do is look after yourself hon. You are worth the fight and worth the energy.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I mean some would be, but that doesn’t mean all are. I’m pretty sure one of my ex pdoc was in there for the money and didn’t give a damn.

Ignoring it can be difficult but I know I need to in order to heal. It’s hard when a parent often talks about how people are after their own self interests.

I’m scared of letting my psych in any further. I’m scared of letting people in. The whole marriage talk is really triggering too. I just don’t want to end up in a relationship and be hurt and/or be triggered by physical contact

Re: My special place

It is scary letting people in @creative_writer It has taken me a long time to become comfortable with my psych and pdoc, to the point where I can tell them what is happening for me. Yes, I still hold back at times. I think that is normal. We all can be hesitant at times.

I totally get the scary thoughts around physical contact, especially with our history and ptsd.

I have been with my husband for over 20 years and it can still affect me at times. I think the main thing is to let them know what you are thinking and to be as honest with them as possible.

But you are right, it can be a really triggering topic.

Have you got any plans for tomorow?

Re: My special place

@Snowie my psych is the only one who really knows more about the trauma details and I see her once a month. Pdoc is decent, but I can’t say I can openly discuss trauma. I also have a few more peer support sessions left. I feel like I ought to feel well supported but I don’t. I feel guilty about it. I don’t even know what I need. All I know is I often end up feeling alone in my struggles. I don’t know if that’s just the nature of cptsd. Maybe masking is getting quite draining too but that’s how I feel like life has to be like for me right now.

I have uni stuff to do, I hope I feel better by Tom. I’ve just taken PRN today, things have been getting a bit out of control. Do you have plans?
