Animals definitely know when we're sad @STORMGRL101 and usually try their best to cheer us up too.
Yes, I do many types of craft. You've reminded me I have come colouring books in my desk drawer, I haven't used them for a while.
I do quite a bit of sewing, clothes, covers and cushions and stuff for the house. I crochet mostly though, clothes, wash cloths, washing up cloths, coathanger covers, scarves, ponchos - it's my go to craft for relaxing.
I have some beading I really want to get back into, but I'm not relaxed enough to get into it at the moment. Recently I bought a crank knitter and I've been playing with that. I don't knit by hand, I can, but it's too cumbersome for me, so I thought I'd try the crank machine when Lincraft had a huge sale a while back. it's interesting and a bit of a learning curve, but so fast compared to by hand.
Cooking is crafty too I think, and I bake, make jams and pickles and things when I can. I have some Basil that needs harvesting and I will make that into a pesto. So gardening is in there as a craft too I suppose.
My embroidery has been living on the shelf for a long time 'cos my hands can't handle the fine needles so well any more. Tatting too, I make tatted lace for edging osme of my clothes or button closures from it.
Crafts are good to keep the mind focused on something outside of ourselves, perhaps that's why I took up so many different things over the years. Well, that as well as the fact that I love learning new things.
Remember I'm quite over the hill, so Ive had lots of time to learn how to do stuff. You might like to visit some of us int the Craft Corner .
Sorry, i do get carried away when it comes to crafting, it really is a love of mine.
