Mental health and exercise

Mental health and exercise

Does anyone exercise while having a mental illness? I suffer from borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety and PTSD. I struggle to go out and exercise or even go out for a walk. I fear of failure, fear of being judged, fear of not being able to complete my exercise plans.

Re: Mental health and exercise

hey @SleepyPanda

i have heard about it but also heard it isnt that effective.

exercises i do are boring but they work, so that makes me feel better. I do have to up the level of exercises every so often though to keep results going. it can be hard when you have soemthing like medication that you have to take daily that is fighting towards putting weight on you but i have found a way to stop that at least.

And besides, i wouldnt be doing much in that time i exercise if i wasnt exercising anyway. so it works out ok. im sure it isnt for everyone but i think of it as i cant control much about my life but this is certaionly one thing i can control

Re: Mental health and exercise

I have been putting on weight due to medication so i have been trying to go for a walk in the early morning when its cool and theres not too many people around. I walk for 15 to 20 mins. I just do it to feel better and i find its helping. Sometimes i only go once a week but i find the morning light good for my circadian rythms. I think jumping around the loungeroom to a bit of music could work too....
