Contracting Diabetes while on anti anxiety medication

that is a scary list, @Former-Member, I agree @Smc, but i would believe it because my mum was told by a doctor years ago that stress was no good for her and she had to stop the stress or she will not be here long

@Shaz51, I definitely qualify as an "at risk" person for Sherry's "scary list" but so far I've stayed physically well, thankfuly. Apart from tiredness and somewhat muzzy memory. Ta for asking.

I have regular checkups as i have osteo arthritis, CKD stage 4 and borderline diabetes

Hi @Shaz51 My Dad actually did get Diabetes (2) - as a direct result of (caused by) the medication that he was on.

So yes, some medications can actually cause Diabetes (despite your weight).

Most of Dad's medications were for cancer (chemo treatments). So I don't know which one caused the Diabetes, though Mum would know.

I don't think it was an anti-anxiety medication.

I had a fasting glucose test, only a few weeks ago. It was ok, although still close to the borderline (for a Diabetes diagnosis).

I've been close to the line several times recently, although no-one seems to know why.

I'm very under-weight, due to my bowels (digestion) not working well since my bowel surgeries (2.5 years ago).

I used to always have low blood-sugar (test) levels. Now I have to get used to the fact that I'm nearly Borderline (higher).

Diabetes isn't actually caused by weight gain, it's a whole heap of other things and weight gain is only a possible symptom of the underlying causes. Very thin people also develop diabetes of both types.
