Lack of emotions

Lack of emotions

Does anyone suffer from lack of emotions.

I cant seem to feel anything these days. For example, I am hanging out with an attractive girl and I dont seem to feel anything. I like her and all but cant seem to connect on an emotional level. Could it be due to my medications or is it part of my mental illness. Thankfully I am not feeling depressed either so I am not really complaining.

Normally I did ask my psych but the next appointment is months away. Any ideas?

Hello @Former-Member

I am here as a wife

I was mentally abused when I was young before mum and I left when I was 12 , I was born with Rubella syndrome, now I have kidney disease stage 4 working at 24% with only one kidney and borderline diabetes

My husband has been diagnosed with lots of things, Clinical depression, Mayor depression , inherited depression and anxiety and maybe Bi polar 11

he was on anti depressants only which did not make any difference until he went to hospital and the specialist put him on anti depressants and anti anxiety medication which has helped him -- still has ups and downs but not like before

hubby wants to go off the meds as the gp said their is lifelong affects and he has been on the meds for a year and a half

so he is cutting his anti anxiety meds by half , he has tried before but had to go back on both meds because of his anxiety

this time he is only do one of the meds and he says he is feeling Lack of emotions,

Hello @Shaz51 and @Former-Member

Hope you are both doing well today, @Shaz51 is indeed around the carer forum lots sharing lovely support for others.

What is the update with his medication changes @Shaz51? What types of things is he experiencing with the change? Was this a decision he made on his own or with the help of his doctore, I can't remember if you told us or not?

Thinking of you and hoping your kidney isnt causing too much pain at the moment

Hello @Former-Member, @Former-Member

Yes, I am everywhere on the forum

awwww thank you @Former-Member

Hubby wanted me to put this question on the forum xx

What is the update with his medication changes @Shaz51?

What types of things is he experiencing with the change, -- he is feeling slack, tired and having lack of emotions, he thought he would feel better going off the meds

Was this a decision he made on his own or with the help of his doctore, -- On his own @Former-Member, trying to get him to see the doctor again

Thinking of you and hoping your kidney isnt causing too much pain at the moment -- the kidney is ok , still at 24 % , next checkup is in june

The Carers say that it will take a while before the effects of going off the meds ,

@Former-Member @Shaz51 - the mens shed is also great for men who are feeling isolated.

Re: Lack of emotions

That's a good idea @Former-Member

That will be good if he can see the doctor again too @Shaz51 that must be difficult for him not feeling those emotions, does he usually just get support from you or does he have others supports as well?

Glad your kidney is okay at the moment
