Something’s not right

Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

Hi, seeing my therapist tomorrow afternoon. There's so much going on inside my head and I am angry with him and nervous all in one. I don't trust him but I don't have a choice either cause I am broke and he is providing voluntary counselling service. Since last July, I have seen him about 14 times. As soon as there is some trust built, there is another reason for him to be absent and I can't see him on another day to make up for it so a missed appointment means a two week gap.

He works for a charity organization, and receives supervision from other therapists. During one of my crazier moments this past week, I sent him a text message that I had forgotten his surname and if he could remind me. I got a text message back on his phone number that it is the policy of the organization not to share the personal details of their volunteers and if I was in crisis I should contact one of the emergency services. 1. The only person who knows that my asking him for his surname was a link to suicidal behaviour was him so my intimate discussions are going to some strangers in some charity group. He could have replied himself and just said that we could discuss it on Friday...but no...apparently there are several people in the consulting room with us and which I know nothing about. 2. Even before this, I have been having difficulty with the missing appointments. With my angry alter being around, I don't feel the warmth that I felt about him before. It's like looking at your friend and feeling nothing about them, they may as well be strangers...they feel like a stranger. 3. What do I do with the alter which is angry with him. I have not switched in front of him and I try too control things as much as possible. My being angry triggers the alter and I am terrified they will come out and say horrible things. 4. I want to die, there's no use in doing therapy anymore, but if I say that, it's going to be a trip to hospital for me. This purgatory...can't live, not allowed to die.

Re: Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

Mum's sick this morning. Mum's always sick on Friday mornings when I am due to go to counselling and mornings when I have to go to uni, anything really where I might be leaving her alone or do anything that might make me want to live. Just add that to the list of reasons to die.

That's hard @Lemonjuice, it took me years to get away from my mother, she actually gave me an out by returning to Ireland. If you can push through and keep your appointment it would be good. She will be fine till you get home. Not guilt if you can, you deserve help, remember that. I always struggle with the reasons to stay alive also, depression is so very hard to live with. You've got this.

Re: Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

I'm at the mechanics to register my car before going on to the counsellor. What was suppose to be a change of headlights and rego is now that plus the exhaust. It has gone from $80 to possibly $400. With an electricity bill of $1300, I don't know where the money is going to come from. Breathe!

We have the smaller car and that doesn't need rego, might leave this one for the month and do repairs on the other one. It's a small corolla for my nephew that his mum bought him for when he turns 18 this year but we may as well make use of it now.

@Lemonjuice.
To me listening to you here, I can understand a bit of how your SH & Suicidal thoughts happen. Am I right in saying that it is not you - pushing these thoughts - but that it is one or more alters who think and obsess this way? And therfore, you use all your strength in trying to repress these inclinations?
I hope I'm on the right track here. If I am, have you explained that to your counselor - the way you have here on the forum?
It is hard when you don't have faith in your counselor. I've been there. But I have a good one now. Initially mine was in training. Not fully qualified - so his boss would look over the notes of our sessions and supervise him. It was weird knowing some stranger was part of my therapy.
But my psycholigist is fully trained now. No more supervision. And he's working well with me.
I hope your counselor works well with you.

Re: Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

So the mechanic says that I have to fix the exhaust before he will let me register the car. That's going to be about $400. I have been registering the same car with mechanics for the past eight years with the same exhaust problems. Suddenly today it's a problem. So, tomorrow we move on to the next mechanic...and the one after that and so on until we find the blind and dumb one.

I stopped by uni but I didn't have the strength to walk in, my anxiety and depression is making mush out of my muscles. I've been delaying seeing academic supervisors for the last month too because my thinking is crap at the moment.

So now I am an hour and a half early at my therapist's place...sitting in my car. I have a book to read but I just want to sleep. Might watch a youtube movie on my phone.

Re: Seeing my therapist tomorrow.

@utopia He's a good therapist, I just don't like what he did...eventhough he probably had to. I'll find out in an hour.

As for the others, yeah, he knows about them. I do repress them otherwise I wouldn't make sense to the world. It's what I call flat-lining. I avoid thinking anything about the past, current problems, weight, mother, kids, etc. As long as I am calm and not anxious, they don't bother me. Once I start thinking about things, feeling things, they get triggered. Not just negative things but good things too. I can't think too much about uni cause it triggers an alter who loves uni and she's ok but she's kind of over-the-top almost manic cheerful. She gets us our high marks but she also embarrasses us in the classroom asking questions, making jokes, etc. It's just too f'n hard sometimes.
