Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Note* Ive just started this thread again so it will be visible. Once I deleted my account it no longer shows up.

please join in again if and when needed.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm very glad that you're back & feeling better @Bunniekins

I actually vomited in my psych appnt, a few weeks ago (felt really ill) - not a great record to set.

Yes, I'm giving online dating another go - after being dissilusioned by it (several years ago), & stopping then.

It's very convoluted, & often doesn't even lead to actually meeting the person.

Some people just like to email for weeks, then cut contact (& don't ever meet me).

Then after meeting someone, they often talk non-stop for 2 or 3 hours - you would think that was a good sign. But no, I'm told "It was lovely to meet you - I don't want to see you again".

Very confusing...

Hi @Bunniekins, just got your earlier messages now. To answer your question about meds: no, I wouldn't go off my meds. When I've done that in the past, it's not turned out well. The process I've been going through over recent months is simply changing to different meds. Changing meds is tricky because it's a trial and error process, and everyone reacts differently to them. So it's destabilised my bipolar to be going through this, leading to the big depression. I'm hopeful now that we have struck the right balance with the new mix.

It's interesting to hear about all you experience and battles with psychiatric drugs. I'm very much in the same boat. I've tried several to a dozen different oral meds. Usually anti psychotics and anti depressants. Because I never committed to the daily routine of taking oral medication they have never worked properly. And eventually I found myself on the depot injection. Which is not all that great bye any means. I think I've just always wanted to return to my old and usual self rather then become a walking and talking array of side effects. Which is why I never committed to oral meds. Now I'm basically being forced to take this wretched injection. I've stopped meds a few times and as one or more of you know. It don't work out very well at all. I've had disastrous results every time. Who knows what my real diagnosis is? A form of schizophrenia... A form of depression... A form of ptsd... A form of don't even think the professionals know...

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Good morning, @eudemonism. It's interesting to read your experiences with meds too. For me, I've never really been an 'old and usual self', having experienced serious depression and anxiety ever since I can remember, even as a child. The manic end of my bipolar condition didn't rear it's head so much until I was in my teens. Even still, I resisted taking meds for a long time, but suffered so much mental and emotional pain, and caused havoc for other people due to my illness, that eventually I asked for them myself.

As we know, they don't solve everything, but the relief from pain they have given me has seen me mostly continue with them for about 30 years now. I expect to take them for the rest of my life, seeing my mental illness as largely a biological condition, like any other physical illness. As it happens, I've actually had more problems with meds for my chronic physical illness (crohns disease) than the ones I take for my mental illness.

I think it's good that you can see that your inconsistency with oral meds has led to this situation now with the depot injections, as I feel it's always more empowering to recognise our own part in our life conditions and take some responsibility for that. At the same time, I feel for your frustration with the current situation. I hope that things may look brighter for you in the future. Wishing you well.

@Adge Hi Adge my sister gave it a go (online dating) and went on a couple of dates one of which she thought went really well and the guy said he would definately call her to line up another date and he never did. She was bitterly disappointed and has stopped for the present. I don 't want to date at all have to sort out my mind first and even then after 25 years of marriage I think that is enough for me.

Hoping you are feeling better soon. Did the doc say it was a virus? so much going around hoping that you are recovering well. greenpea xxx

@Mazarita Poor Mazzy I thought that was probably the case but wasn't sure. Nothing like bipolar depression to drag you down (I remember thoese months). I really hope you are now on the up and up (not too up :))
