Crying

Crying

Some days, like today. Even though I am content, safe, have some things to do. Have dog-company. Suddenly I find myself tearing up. I am listening to the most beautiful classical music - and just browsing forums and fb. And then wham. Knot in the chest, tight in the throat, tears in the eyes.

I wonder - should I go with this. Just feel it. Not run and hide from it? I tend to slam on the brakes. It's such a fine line, actually allowing myself to feel my feelings and worrying that if I do I will be swamped by the tsunami in here.

Do others have these feelings arising? I cry just about every day, even when i am not in a depressive state. Just cry I just want to cry for the world, for myself, for all the pain of everyone.... <sigh>

Time to do the dishes and sing I think.

Re: Crying

@Appleblossom, the experience with your stepchild sounds horrendous and harmful and I am sorry it happened to you (both). We get through the hardest stuff, and what an amazing testament to your strength and resilience that you have. ❤️

Re: Crying

@MoonGal - perhaps you didn't fail at observing and holding your feelings, but instead, you succeeded at talking about them here?

It's good to have an array of tools, in case the nail you think you've got is really a screw.

Got this song running thru my head lately, maybe it'll resonate with you too:

Thanks for the link @CannonSalt

I also enjoyed the last youtube comment about the lyrics being from Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Hugs @Appleblossom - I wish there'd been more help for you back then to get away 😞 I am lucky to have a lovely support worker.

Re: Crying

@Appleblossom - I am a bit worried that you think my reply was a 'bother', it wasn't and I am sorry if you felt it was. I really don't understand your reference to the post being politically incorrect, but I hope I haven't inadvertently offended you.

It is a good question "What does unconditional acceptance mean? " Kind of like my struggles to 'accept' the unacceptable and coming to the conclusion that I do not accept the unacceptable (like the CSA I survived) but I can accept that the unacceptable happens and it happened to me.

I am so saddened by the struggle you have been through to be the best Mother to all of your children, the lack of support and help you (didn't) receive from the authorities, your hard lived life with them in very difficult circumstances. These are things outside of my lived experience having had only pregnancies that ended in miscarriage and finally an ectopic pregnancy in my 20's, thus not viable, that resulted in emergency surgery with massive scarring in my fallopian tubes. No baby and no possible fertility afterwards and a lifetime of gynae pain and problems. So, the only grief I have had to contend with in the realm of human children is the pre-natal loss and life-long lack of them.

I hear a heap of grief in your story and I can understand that you would "Cry Me A River " if you dwell on it. Living Grief is hard yards. I hope you can find some relief from that deep well sometimes. If discussing it here helps, I am glad of that too.

PS: I don't know who Robert Sapolsky is or his body of work or philosophy, but will look him up.

@CannonSalt - "perhaps you didn't fail at observing and holding your feelings, but instead, you succeeded at talking about them here?" good take on it thank you, yes, in talking through it I understand more about it too, so perhaps this was 'observing' in a way too.

Thanks for the Byrds - Turn, Turn, Turn too. spot on for this discussion.

Re: Crying

Thanks @Former-Member for the retrospective wish .... things are a little better now ... but I am still staggered by the amount of human suffering about today even though living standards are higher and services are both better and more available ... it must be something about the pace of modern life .. maybe .. I didnt mean "really" jealous ... I can see the situations for what they are or were .... but just thought I would express it that way as it is a common way of talking.

Dear @MoonGal You did not offend or upset me in the slightest ... I am very used to being overlooked and passed by BY OTHERS, generally in my life, NOT YOU.

I guess if I am being honest to myself I am finally trying to get the legitimate attention I missed out on earlier in my life ... the "carefulness" in my tone was nothing about anything you said ... I REALLY APPRECIATED your posts to me, and in general. Many times I have posted peeople have skipped over the hairy details and you actually engaged with it ...so thanks .... It is more a throw back to the way I have been treated generally .... in life.
