Um im not sure just human anatomy books @Former-Member i wanted to study nursing but cant handle uni and i know that nut love to learn in that field. Always has been an interest of mine so ive found a few tafe courses like human anatomy and physiology and its all online , affordable with payment plans and it also gives me credit so if i end up at uni later those courses fo towards that even though they are only statements of attainments and a few abit higher.

Re: rough time
@outlander..sorry cut my post short before as i had my friend come over for a cup of tea..so ill continue.....after the nurse verbally abused and swore at me i shut down...next thing i knew at meds time i had 8 nurses in my room to make sure i took my meds...total overkill...i had no intention of refusing my meds and i wasnt being abusive or violent...i was shut down not speaking at all...so i dont see why they all had to come in...total bad experience for that hospital stay...and i wont repeat what they said and did when they came in ... i was there because i was very unwell and that experience really shook me...and after the female nurse ran to him to "dob on me" i really felt i couldnt trust anyone there...really gonna try stay out of hospital this year as i would have to go to the same hospital as its my local and im scared of seeing that nurse again!!! catgirl🐾

Re: rough time
I totally get the not being able to handle uni right now. It's probably best to put if off until you're ready. It's not going anywhere, you can start studying at any time. So no stress. You can do an EN course at tafe- but it will probably be really full on too. It's super awesome that some will count towards uni! I could look up some good intro texts for anat and physiology for nurses if you want me to. Or the course might have some recommendations? Did you do biology in year 12?

Re: rough time
Thats a really horrible experience to have @catgirl i hope you never get that treatment again!<l
@Former-Member Yeah i cant handle full on stuff. This course doesnt start till may but no harm in getting a book or 2 and just flicking through every now and then. >Sure you can take a look if you like. The site doesnt tell me until a month or 2 before hand and after i enrol. This one is only based on anat then the coursr after that focusses on physiology then it gets more specific and has courses specific dor the systems ie nervous, cardiac etc >No i didn't for yr 12. I didnt take on any sciences. I went for family and community studies and actually got top marks and some of my projects are still there esp one and was told i highly doubt anyone will top that. I done pdhpe as well. English and maths as well as 2 others but cant remember what they were. Yr 12 and 12 were hard! I barely passed thr hsc cause of everything going on and sometimes i thought i was studying too much! Tafe has a biology course too but not sure its relevant

Re: rough time
Funnily enough family and community studies will probably stand you in better stead. And no biggie if you didn't take biol - I didn't and neither did some of my friends who are now nurses. And pdhpe has heaps of physiology in it. I wished I'd done it in year 12. @outlander you've got to remember you were studying with a chronic undiagnosed illness. When you get in top of that things will be so much easier. I'll let you get back yo your previous conversation. But one last thing. Have you ever thought about doing a phlebotomist course? Taking blood and giving ecgs etc. You sound like you'd be really good at it.

I loved cafs ( community and family studies) and pe. They were my 2 faves. I think nells gone to bed @Former-Member Hmm i did think of it the only problem is needles. Iam getting better at geting bloods done myself but i dont like them and i dont think i could handle doing that. Its a downfall. The course content is fine. Its those damn pracs!

Re: rough time
@catgirl- I'm not sure if you are aware but I'm a nurse. I'm not telling you this to berate you, but you say I'm now on the other side of the bed, and just because I'm a nurse doesn't always mean I get treated with respect and courtesy. I've had my fair share of shit nurses and doctors too. I've had nurses tell me to go home and take my life and do a proper job of it. I've had them tell me that it's all in my head-Umm, yes it is - and that I need to stop bring so attention seeking & to suck it up. Then other nurses spend their time with me, allowing me time to vent, to cry, to express my hurt feelings. And they validate me. Make me feel it's ok. It's ok to feel distressed and miserable. I'm a good nurse, I care and I show it. And that's hard too, because I'm often criticised for caring spending too much time chasing pain meds, time talking to, explaining procedures to patients. I can't win
