@outlanderI see my psych next Wed again.
@Phoenix_RisingI think my pdoc just keeps upping my meds to make me feel nothing, think that is his answer.
I am on a waiting list for DBT that is about 9 months long and have left 4 messages for another clinic to get in contact with me to see how long their wait list is. Still waiting to hear back from them.
Yes trauma can be healed, I agree with you there, however finding those helpful people is such a difficult road to travel, with road blocks every which way. In the mean time I try to use those coping strategies to try and survive.

Hi @Snowie, I'm sorry it's feeling like nothing is helping tonight. You mentioned that these feelings have been brought on by something that you can't talk about. Do you mean that you can't talk about it here on the Forums? Is there someone that you can talk to about it? Or can you call the SANE Help Centre or another service?
I think @Phoenix_Rising is right in that there are things that help and that healing from trauma is possible. So if a coping strategy can help you get through today or tomorrow, that is helping you get closer to finding a way to heal.

@Former-Memberif I talk about it, I will just get more upset and then that could lead to other things....I spoke to chat before but then this happened after that.

@Snowie I'm wondering if anyone has spoken to you about EMDR and/or neurofeedback? It definitely isn't magic, but a lot of people get really positive results from it. That is, it can help reduce the frequency and/or intensity of flashbacks, nightmares etc. To me, actually reducing these things makes more sense than just learning strategies to cope with them.
Even DBT (particularly as it is usually done in Australia) is really about learning how to survive long enough to actually do trauma work. TTT and I were talking about this a few weeks ago. She was saying that being good at the DBT skills is the first step, whereas it tends to get promoted as "the solution."
As for throwing medication at the problem, I really don't see how that can be helpful. Don't get me wrong, I believe medication definitely has its place in terms of helping with things like depression, sleep issues etc, I just don't see how it is supposed to help with healing the actual trauma.
I so very badly wish it wasn't so hard to find those helping people who actually want to help us heal rather than just survive and/or cope. ![]()

@Phoenix_Risingyes psych has spoken about EMDR with me. He is not trained but is looking into someone who is trained around my area. He has spoken to two people already but they are both not taking on any more clients.
Yes, finding helpful people is super hard to do.

@Snowie I am super pleased to hear that your psych is investigating the option of EMDR for you. Your muddle truly is healable, Snowie. It won't always be the way it is right now, I promise...and I am never wrong. ![]()
