Re: rough time

@outlander

So yesterday I went to a breakfast forum about suicide prevention. I can't say who it was by, but there were mostly professional representatives from various government, NGO and volunteer agencies. I was from a lived experience perspective (anybody in the lived experience network of this organisation could attend if they were in Perth/WA) as was one other person. It was essentially a follow up from a survey and gathering ideas of issues with suicide prevention so this organisation could move forward with it's projects and goals. It was very interesting for 2 reasons. There were several organisations present that I never knew existed and it was good to hear the different perspectives. They also seemed to appreciate mine. And the food and coffee were good too :).

It only lasted a couple of hours, and after it finished I chatted to one lady about the organisation she worked for as I was interested in joining as a member. They have different mh programs and workshops you can attend, some of which are subsidised.

A woman from another orginisation then approached me saying she was impressed by my contribution and my courage to speak up. She has invited me to her office next week to talk to her about several programs she is involved with including suicide prevention and BPD, and she wants my input! I was very flattered, and very interested.

I felt really good after this forum, and it seems I have opened a potential few doors into possible roles in suicide prevention and treatment of patients with BPD. And I seem to be joining @Phoenix_Rising in adding to the voices of changing the world. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to do so as PR has also described.

(Sorry for delay in this post-was having my dinner)
