Re: rough time

thanks @Sans911

i was wondering if youve felt guilty, unsure or uneasy about seeing a gp other than your regular one?

The new gp and nurse ive been seeing the past few weeks has actually been helpful- kind of like getting a new perspective from others who havent known me for yrs or hasnt been through my attempts etc with me. its been good to actually be heard from them even when ive meantioned mental health to them but at the same time its like im betraying my other gp and nurse who have actually stuck by me and helped me get through that tough spots.
im not really sure how to manage these emotions...

Re: rough time

Is there any reason why perhaps you can have one gp for your physical health and one for mh?

Would you call it betrayal when you are only seeking another opinion? Or whatever other reason you are seeing them.

I can understand the emotions you are feeling.

Re: rough time

as in have 2 seaparate gps? @Sans911
no, when you put it that way it doesnt really seem like betrayal. it was and is good to get a different perspective though. sometimes i think when theyve known you for a long time but mostly because its for mh issues it might be hard for them to see other issues without saying 'its anxiety'. i originally went to this gp to seek a second opinion on my heart reports but then discovered the high bp so ive just stuck with her and the nurse at that clinic for the checkup shes ordered rather than seeing my other nurse. i really only see her now for weight management and/or papsmears when needed. and the gp i would normally see only see me if i really need to or just when im at the weight management clinic.

Re: rough time

the new gp knows i have mental health issues but hasnt focussed on that. its more that she knows, understands but is focussing on other things right now without saying its your mh or its that causing it. she is actually taking the time to listen to me and answer my questions as well.

Re: rough time

I can see what you mean by seeing the same GP. Sounds like they're perhaps a little complacent. My GP isn't like that at all.

If you stay with one of the gps you can always get your records transferred over.

You are the patient here @outlander and you have the right to choose who takes the best care of you.

Re: rough time

That is true @Sans911 i can get records transferred over. Maybe for now ill get the tests and bp sorted out with the new gp and go from there. I dont really see gps anymore unless i have to as in theres a reason for me to go. I will prob stick with my reg gp for now since she does know my mh history but i now know that i have other options if i need to...

Thank you @Sans911 for listening 💜

Re: rough time

Sounds like a reasonable plan @outlander. It's a shame you feel let down by gps as there are some very good ones.

Re: rough time

Yeah there are some good ones @Sans911 they are usually hard to find. My regular gp is ok just sometimes think she and my nurse are abit close to my curcumstances and struggle to see past my mh issues sometimes ir the easier option is to blame it. Guess thats the way it is for now though...
