Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

Hi @chookmojo

When I write : 5 minute space I may have been writing of my own ...... Self ........ I can't take too much in and always need 5 minutes to let my mind re connect with what's happening.

Can't remember everything but that something you are ' diagnosed with' is Autistic spectrum.

But since I've known you, you seem to be highly intelligent .......

I need to just look up something you wrote about your Mum just a tic .....

Dear @Mazarita

I was not involved in rocknroll sufficiently to really think we had met ... Maybe I went to a dozen gigs in 5 years ... I was just joking ... but cos we are similar age I thought we had probably been to a few of the same places ... I dont see it as an anonymity thing but a cultural thing ... I have had high-brow culture pushed on me and low-brow culture ... so I guess a consequence is that I am interested in "culture" in itself whatever its variant. ... I ponder bugs in agar in a petri dish.

@Appleblossom 'bugs in agar in a petrie dish'

I remember that you have a scientific or mathematical background too... I was never involved in rock except in my teens going to gigs to dance, hear music and hang out with other people. When I was creating artistically, it has been mostly the experimental end of the spectrum. Meaning small scale and largely unknown for the most part. I was mostly a loner even in the Melbourne arts scene. There was also a five year period when I went fairly frenzied with partying and socialising. That was part of what cued the bipolar diagnosis I guess...

What o heard......
What does everyone think:

You may have brothers and sisters and only one has the diagnosis........
What has happened was that there was a trauma/ a loss and it affected one brother or sister more heavily than the others. It doesn't matter if you had a great childhood with lots of
Love....... The loss-trauma then a ...... Predisposition for Mi with experimentation of illegal substances or alcohol... Addiction kickstarts it

Thats pretty much the general idea .. @PeppiPatty .. bewt nu name

Love @chookmojo long list of helpful people ... When I was younger I was too shy and proper in a weird way and did not know enough pop culture to easily bond or get an easy rapport with people ... which is why my friends tried to drag me to dances etc.

However I know I was a bit scientific in my approach to drug-taking ... ie making myself the guinea pig ...

I really liked the honesty in Gabor Mate in admitting his workaholism and shopping for classical music CDs as addiction ... I totally agree with him.

Re: Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

@Appleblossom I like that about Gabor Mate too. I'm hoping to look at addictive patterns in general with my psychologist. The current problem with smoking is just the latest in other addictive and compulsive behaviours in the past with legal things, like sex, work, food, even creativity. I was struck by his 'hungry ghost' metaphor. I relate to that feeling of never ending hunger for something. Sometimes I think this is the human condition in varying degrees.

Re: Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

Oh, @PeppiPatty, I've just been talking about myself too much. My experience of life is limited by staying inside the flat so much for years.

This discussion thread is so active I'm having trouble keeping up with replies, lol. @chookmojo's list of people is great. I haven't had a chance to enumerate the people who have helped me. There are so many, at all different levels of familiarity. I'll try to get back to that, @PeppiPatty. Your new name so suits you!
