Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Hi @outlander @Faith-and-Hope @TAB @Former-Member @Phoenix_Rising @Sans911 @Former-Member

Thought I would drum up a bit of a thread with some updates on the trip.

Full day 1 today. Had a quick dash of breakfast and got up to visit the Sky Tower in auckland. Apparently its higher than sydney tower. Only about 20 metres or so..

Good views of the city though. Gave me some ideas on what to do over the next week. Will be going to one of the islands as well as the bridge climb with dad.

I'm enjoying being overseas. I feel like a nobody and it gives me a sense of independence.

Had lunch under a pub in a big food court. Fish and chips lol. Typical NZ.

Auckland is pretty quiet. Lots of international cuisine too.

Hopefully some pics of kiwis to come soon.

I hope you have a good christmas tomorrow guys and i will be keen to hear how youve spent your day.

Ill be on in the arvo because i would've eaten too much for lunch (no breakfast for me).

Take care of yourselves and thanks for being here too. I really like forum land.

hey @Zoe7 @TAB @utopia @Shaz51 @outlander @eudemonism @Former-Member

Just sharing some old pics from various points in the past. Thought i would post them here on my adventure thread.

Some are natural environment, some ecclectic, some politica, some are just experiences and memories I feel like sharing.

I was thinking that maybe photography is a good form of therapy for us because it can ground us in moments from the past - evidence that we live a life and have memories which are real.

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Hey forumites

I remembered I had this thread from a while ago. Thought I would bring it back as I posted on here back 2 years ago.

Being here over Christmas has been quite liberating. Things are very different to where they were two years ago when I first posted here for Christmas.

Many of you were there as well.

I am returning tomorrow fresh and renewed.

I always feel sad leaving here. There is something about the landscape here that gives me a sense of peace despite the tumultuous parts of life... Much like you find yourself weaving and winding through the ravines and mountains of life... The landscape here is reminiscent of that.

Sitting here at night looking out over the lake... Another chapter closes in my life. And so much like the peaceful night that shrouds these waters, I am at peace in my heart.

It's been a long long time since I have been able to say that.

I'd like to think that despite the fact I've only been here for about a week now, I can take something back home with me.

For once it does feel like I'll be going back to a better life and situation than what I've been before.

Usually the Christmas break is always good. But it was tarred by the fact I'd be going back to situations I wasn't content with.

And yet I feel sadder that I'm leaving this part of the world. The very same thing happened to me 3 years ago.

Right now I can hear the ducks nesting and quacking away. There was also a deer and its young the other night.

I feel a bit spiritual about it all if you can't tell. Lol.

All I can say is that I feel closer to myself in this part of the world.

Anyway. It is what it is.

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

You have taken some major steps in your life this past year @MDT both professionally and mentally. Cherish the moments you have had/are having there atm and take them with you when you return home. We so often forget about those special moments but they can also help to sustain us when other things are not going so well. You have come a long way buddy - so give yourself the credit you are due

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Wow thank you @MDT for sharing that. Very spiritual and beautiful words. Whilst reading that I could see and hear what you were seeing and hearing it was written so wonderfully.

What a gorgeous place to be over Xmas.

The famous quote from The Castle comes to mind...................Aaah the serenity...lol

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Happy to share it @Scarecrowe

I am happy to hear that it could be felt for you too my friend 🙂

I must write more i think. About many things. It is very cathartic.

Ive never really felt like this leaving a place before. Only when i was a kid and we went to the same place for Christmas could i actually feel this sad leaving.

Connection to place in the psychical world can be a metaphysical one too maybe

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

You are allowed to feel those strong emotions through joy as well @MDT 👍😁

Re: Hamsolo01's adventure thread

Yes agreed @MDT writing is very cathartic.

I love writing and words. I am not very good at it but I do enjoy putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard lol).

I have always wanted to write a book and have peopel get lost in my words and stories, but I have not achieved such goal.....maybe one day.......

You certainly have the knack for words my friend...................
