Re: Social isolation

@MoonGal @Former-Member @Former-Member

Thank you for this wonderful conversation

Thanks @MoonGal....my worries might be over now you have sent this webpage. Ive been struggling with writing out my core values for a lot of weeks now but right now......theres so many more important things to do.

@MoonGal you 'lost in space' comment is me all the time.....

yes. Me and h. are alone for Christmas. I am so impressed with my oldest son..... he has lived experience .... and has spent many years alone for Christmas. But he manages himself well.

Where I live, you can pretty much see the emotions of individuals begin to hang heavy in the air .....as they face Christmas. A couple of years ago, I went to my first free christmas meal in the city......it was wonderful.

Thanks @BamBam for your posts, they are great.

Re: Social isolation

Hi, this is my first Christmas without family or friends except for during my holiday to Asia a few years ago.

I don't feel welcome at my brother's new house and I would rather spend my time volunteering as I have my certificate in mental health. There are still gatherings of people on around the place if you look for them.

That's assuming I'm not back in hospital as my meds aren't really working out. @PeppiPatty I'm glad your son is ok by himself. I'm trying to get to that point but there are too many reminders that I am by myself and I get very conscious that people will find out, not to mention the media labelling us as potential serial killers and the like.

Re: Social isolation

Have to go into hospital to change meds the week before Christmas. Will see if anyone visits me, I might get dropped in on by my parents.
As for Christmas Day I can volunteer at a church street party. NYE is more problematic, may just sleep through it!

Dear @Former-Member @Appleblossom @BamBam @Former-Member

Does anyone know where that core values post is ??

Re: Social isolation

Ah, Yes, the potential serial killers tag....

@BamBam

And the family in discussion of how to deal with the family memeber who has MI. they do care though??

Sure they do.

@BamBam I would love to hear that your joining in with volunteer work. About 5 years ago, my Mum paid for me to visit her in USA and my brother and I did volunteer work there helping serve meals while my Mum drove to people's homes who couldn't come to the meal day.

It was ...oh an eyeopener ...to experience that part of America and me and my brother feel so so good.

Jeepers you have a cert. Mental Health. Would you like to do volunteer work? What would it be? I remember going on phone lines as a volunteer wasnt the people phoning in but the other volunteer workers where all the problems came from

Re: Social isolation

Hey @Former-Member, thank you for reaching out.

Why "Moongal"... I chose this because of the association of moon, tide - being pulled, waxing and waning. Lunar, Lunatic... as in my poem .... here

I once followed astrology and religion and as part of my journeying into mySelf and being clear of voices other than my own dictating who I 'should be' I eventually arrived at atheism. So while I know alot about astrology, wiccan, buddhism, christianity, I decided to put my mind to rest and celebrate the wonders and amazing LIFE of the planet, Earth. Our home. What we know about her because of science, what we are yet to discover.

I have an adpoted greyhound and at the moment a beautiful foster as well. They woke me up at (bloody!) 6 am this morning, grumpy was I, much! But, well, I love them so what do you do? Grin and bear it (after the first coffee anyway!).

I am glad to hear your darling cat is well on the road to recovery, you have done a great job. Hope he continues to thrive. I am so forunate to have the life where I can contribute by helping the foster dogs.

I visted a friend yesterday - that's a marathon effort as she lives an hour's drive away. it was lovely to see her and connect, albeit only for an hour before i tired and knew I had an hour's drive home again, I was a tad exhausted but glad I made the effort. I bought a new top while I was out too. I have put on so much weight on the anti-psychotic and anti-depresseant meds I am on, I just keep upsizing. But I have levelled out and seem to be holding at current state. Which I am glad about.

My main focus in life at the moment is 'home-making' I have various little projects on the go - just made a lovely sitting area out the back as the weather has turned nice and it has faux turf as the 'mat' and beautiul cushions depicicting African birds. I love our bird life her ein Oz too, even though we are in the suburbs - we have about 6 different species that use our back garden or live here. They are beautiful and cheer my day. I spend a lot of 'moments' remembering just to watch and listen to their songs, being present to their lives. .
