Re: :/

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope. That sort of anger can be tough to deal with and it sucks that it got to that with no way to validate how you were feeling. I've got things I could do instead if I want to do them, so no thanks but thanks for the offer.

Hi @catgirl, nice to 'meet' you. I'm not sure why it would be anything to feel sad about, but I appreciate the sentiment. It's great that you haven't done it in a few months and that therapy has been helping you. Well done 🙂

Re: :/

Ughhhh I had a visitor today with <5 minutes notice (I knew they were coming today, I just thought they'd give me a bit of warning first!). And so I hadn't cleaned up the place sufficiently for company.

Gross spoiler, don't read if you don't want to hear about bathroom grossness:

Content/trigger warning
I hadn't even flushed the damn toilet, and of course that's the first place the visitor went.

Ffffffffffp. Bloody embarrassing.

Re: :/

Oh that sucks @TheVorticon ..... but it is a moment in time that came and went, and hopefully they felt some embarrass, ent that they had caught you off-guard ..... will hopefully give warning next time.

Re: :/

Yeah @Faith-and-Hope, it didn't help that they said 20mins on the phone which I agreed to, then they revised it to 5mins by text while I was doing my 20min-preparation.

Whatever, I just need to get over it. At least it wasn't anything outright offensive or illegal I guessssss.

Re: :/

And it's a triple rant day.

2 - I got sunburned because I decided it was stupid to have to put sunscreen on just to go to the grocery store. I maintain that it's stupid.

3's a long one - Accuracy and precision... They're important.

I don't understand people who are imprecise when writing formal correspondence or documentation.

For example, person A sends an email on behalf of person B. Person B follows up on that email, saying "just following up from my earlier message..."
"MY earlier message". No, it's person A's earlier message. Person B can't just claim ownership of the message that person A sent, even if they sent it on behalf of person B. That's wonky logic rubbish soup. "Our" or "the" would've worked fine, but not "my".
Imprecision might start off with little things like this that don't matter, but how can I tell that they're not going to be imprecise about everything from here on out?

If they don't deem their own personal outputs to be worthy of precision, then do they consider themself to be interchangeable with anyone else?
Does that make me interchangeable with anyone?

So it won't matter to them if they get my name wrong. If they confuse what I say to them with someone else entirely. Hell, maybe everyone's words, thoughts, ideas, problems, hopes, dreams are all just swimming around together in a big boiling vat of brain a la bisque. Consciousness chowder.

I'm extremely glad I don't have to trust them to follow an instruction. What if they were assembling a car? With their astonishing level of inaccuracy they'd probably pick a bolt that's the wrong material, wrong thread, wrong length, wrong damn DIAMETER and wouldn't even notice. Because all bolts are interchangeable with other bolts, right?

Because if it doesn't matter to them whether they're accurate about a simple blindingly obvious thing like who sent what email, what chance do they have of being accurate about anything else?
