Sending you healing calming thoughts @TheVorticon.
Sorry it's such a tough night for you. Please hang in there. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully will be an easier calming day for you.

Re: :/

My thoughts are a betrayal, an inner saboteur. There's no winner in a war of attrition against yourself.

Re: :/

Things just feel like they're pointless at the moment. IDK

Re: :/

Hi @TheVorticon @utopia ..... 👋

I have been a bit off-colour the last couple of days ...... blaming it on the horrible weather and fatigue at the moment.

Sorry you are feeling so flat @TheVorticon. It can be hard to fill our days when it’s like that. Can you plan to get a few things done so you have some mini-goals to keep you moving forward ?

Re: :/

It's an awful thing when everything seems so pointless @TheVorticon. I've been in the same place for months now. And I hate it.
Trying to motivate yourself is hard to do. But @Faith-and-Hope is right. Try and set small achievable goals.
I'm big on talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Lol.
Thinking of you

Re: :/

Yeah I saw that you hadn't been feeling well @Faith-and-Hope . I hope you can get some rest and get settled after the move.
@utopia sorry to hear that you're still struggling with pointlessness and lack of motivation too.

I've got no trouble thinking of all the things I could and should do, but actually doing them seems so tiring and has done for months. I'm at work at the moment (air con, routine and difficulty asking for days off have kept me going to work), but this arvo I'll come home to a fragrant pile of dirty dishes which will have to be washed unless I want to eat tomorrow's breakfast from a cup, plastic bags all over the floor, a flat bike tyre...and that's just the start. I just don't know how to get off my butt to get things done anymore. At least I took half the garbage out this morning cause it was more fragrant than the dishes.
The past few nights I've had persistent SH thoughts. I was lucky enough for the thoughts to follow me to work this morning and I'm not sure how I avoided doing it, given that it feels pointless to resist.

Re: :/

Break even small tasks down to their smallest units @TheVorticon ..... I had 3 babies under 2yo, one with major health issues ..... I am very skilled at this now.

Use smalll ex-shopping bags as rubbish bags rather than letting a big one grow and overfill. Sit the shopping bag in a container to give it structure ..... doesn’t matter what .... colander, bucket, salad bowl, bike helmet, saucepan and have it on the kitchen bench somewhere handy. Take it out to the outside bin when you’re leaving for work whether it’s full or not, and replace it with another one when you get home.

Run a super hot washing up sink and put dishwashing liquid in it. Soak a sink full of dishes. The water will stay too hot for your hands for a while - so don’t touch it. Just let it soak there. When it has cooled down, run a sink brush over anything that hasn’t soaked off by itself and drain on a spread out tea towel, upside down. Don’t even think about putting them away.

Freshly used dishes are easier to soak clean, so when you use anything at all, run hot water into it and leave it in the sink with a drop of dishwashing liquid in it and let it clean itself. Same if you cook .... chuck a mugful of hot water in the pan along with a squirt of dishwashing liquid and stick the lid on, leaving it on the hot plate to cool down there. Once around with the dish brush when it’s cool, and drain on the tea towel.

Chuck a wash load into the machine when you go to work, hang it when you get home ..... don’t both with pegs unless it’s windy or the item is small ..... just throw them over the line any-old-how ..... it’s Summer, they will dry. You can throw undies into the shower with you and stomp on them when they’re all soapy from washing you, then stomp on them to rinse them out again and hang on the shower taps to dry overnight. Then you have fresh underwear already in the bathroom for your next shower ..... repeat .....

Hope this helps.

Re: :/

Some great handy tips @Faith-and-Hope.
@TheVorticon. Yes I know how hard it is to motivate myself to do the basics in self hygiene and basic cleaning. Just looking at the mess or thinking about the mess - just makes it that much harder to start. The 'why bother' attitude.
I finally had a shower today - the first in 7 days. I've been stinking for days. But it's only because I had to take my mum to a medical appointment that I bothered to wash.
I never used to be like this. I used to just do what needed doing.
I hope you feel better once you get home and the dishes are done. It does make a difference once things are done.
But those 'shoulds' & 'coulds' - just cause guilt and stop you from achieving anything.
