Re: Christian Chat

@ENKELI i'm glad you not going to argue with me about this, i did not intend to do so myself replying as i did. i tried to explain why i responded the way i did, not against your view as such, but as explanation of my own.

Re: Christian Chat

@DownMoreThanUp very gently I say that sometimes I feel like I am being preached to, and as I have said before, my ex friend used Christianity against me even though she claimed to be a Christian. This gets me quite upset and mad.

It is quite simple and very clear that you either worship God or you worship things like crystals or auras, chakras etc which are not of God. I don't think you got the point that crystals in new age religion is not of God - the point I was making - and were more concerned with putting your point of view across which wasn't really necessary as you were arguing a totally different point to what I was trying to say.

I don't know whether you interpret what I say differently to what I mean or if it is something else.

Quite often ex friend would say something completely irrelevant as she wasn't listening to what I was saying and was too busy wanting to put her own point across that she missed the original point. I am not saying that you do that, but it brings back painful memories of a time I am trying my hardest to put behind me.

Re: Christian Chat

@ENKELI i'm not into preaching, i just wanted to share my understanding about that. i had no problems with your view and i said that to start of with not realising that needed more punch with your back ground.

I know how that goes though, i hope you will break free from feeling judged for what you believe to be true. This has nothing to do with right or wrong as such but how we respond i found out to be true, for i have been very much like you on such things in the past as well.

What i seek when i write like that is connection with others going through a hard time seeking solutions, and trying to share the truths of God around such a concept without judging behaviours i do not agree with. i had to learn to do that as a worker with troubled youth already.

i certainly had no plan attacking you about that, or felt a need to do that, personally i find it hard to see where i did that, and would like to hear how you read my reply where you felt i did. so i can rethink my replies more carefully to prevent that. You are certainly not the fist person to be aggrieved with what i write about my way of seeing or reading The Word of God, but usually that is because i do not tow the religious line. Not the kind of reasons you mention. i like to be more sensitive to such issues.

My day ended literally in a flop. Nausea got so bad i broke out in sweat and had to prevent collapsing. Been there before but it came as a surprise for i did not feel stressed but i got told that my body still needed to regulate anyhow and it is unlikely to be a gut issue as i thought.

AI diagnosed as Vasovagal Syncop and indeed the symptoms all fitted. Unbelievable how sick one can get when that happens and how awful it gets to want to die because you are feeling so unwell. Got over the bad spell but the nausea hasn't stopped which means my body is has to regulating faster than i can do it. had this happen multiple times, especially the last 3 years or so. Hopefully learning to regulate will assist here. (Last time i lost a beloved dog i went full blown psychotic so what that concerns i have done well so far.)

love this one

Re: Christian Chat

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @Shaz51 , @REDLINEZ750 , @MissGremlin ,

II Corintians 1 (and II Corinthians 2 and 3 following)

- From Paul and Timothy.

- To the church of God at Corinth, with all the saints throughout Greece.

- Grace and peace.

- Blessed be the God of mercies who comforts us - so that we can comfort others with the comfort we have received from God.

- For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

- We had great affliction in Asia - we despaired of life - but God delivered us and will deliver us again.

- Your prayers help.

- Our boast: that we have acted with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom, but by God's grace.

- Paul planned to come to the Corinthians before but held off to spare them hurt.

- Now it is God who strengthens us together with you in Christ - He has also put His seal on us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

II Corinthians 2

- Paul decided not to make another painful visit (because of the reprimand to the man who was living immorally).

- The punishment by the majority to this man has been sufficient - it is time to forgive him. Reaffirm your love to him.

- Important to forgive so that Satan can't take advantage of the situation.

- But thanks be to God Who always leads us in triumph and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.

II Corinthians 3

- Our letter of recommendation is you - written with the Spirit on human hearts.

- The old ministry did have a glory - as evidenced by the shining of Moses face - but the ministry of the Spirit is more glorious.

- Since we have such a hope, we act with great boldness.

- Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

- We, looking at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image of glory. This is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Through Christ our comfort overflows. Blessed be the God of mercies who comforts us - so that we can comfort others with the comfort we have received from God.

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI ,

Hello to all of you.

The support button has not been working!

Hope everyone has an okay day.

I plan to work on the theology course today.

Re: Christian Chat

@DownMoreThanUp my support button has gone on the fritz again and I don't have the mental energy to engage today - nothing personal I am just not coping.

You seem to be a typical caring type, wanting to fix everything. Often when I write something I don't need a response or counter conversation/argument/comment. As I had to do with ex friend, sometimes we just need someone to listen, not offer a solution or a reply. I hope that helps.

It's not necessarily you, and when I am mentally strong I don't take notice. I am fragile mentally at the moment so I am likely reading more into things than normal.

Blessings xo

Re: Christian Chat

@ENKELI Thanks replying. i try and keep that in mind.

i thought you/others might like hearing why i replied the person the way i did a Christian. However, and you kind of opening my eyes to this issue, others can feel attacked by my personal response, even, like you did as well, that i'm preaching doing this. So now i'm beginning to see that at times my personal view is experienced as an attack by other people, and need to try and work on minimising that.

So thanks for the feedback i will ponder, cautiously, how to incorporate this into my writing style. Glad you were honest about that. Not good if unintentionally i push (good) people away while sharing my views.

Hope you have a great day sis.

Re: Christian Chat

I am curious what your theology studies are about. @Realness Only if you want to share...

Had a chat to a lady at lunch. We had both taught catechism or bible studies as young teenagers.

Re: Christian Chat

📖 Book of Isaiah 55:6
“Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.”

🌿 Key Hebrew words (the heart of the verse)
“Seek” — Dirshu (דִּרְשׁוּ)
root: darash
means: to seek, inquire, pursue, turn toward intentionally
This isn’t casual. It’s: :backhand_index_pointing_right: “turn your attention toward God with purpose”

“While He may be found” — b’himatzo (בְּהִמָּצְאוֹ)
from matsa = to find, to be present, to be encountered
Implies: :backhand_index_pointing_right: a moment of nearness, an openness to encounter
Not that God disappears — but that there are windows where hearts are open and responsive.

“Call upon” — qera’uhu (קְרָאֻהוּ)
from qara = to call out, cry out, proclaim
This is: :backhand_index_pointing_right: honest, vocal reaching
Not polished prayer — more like:
“God… I need You.”

“Near” — qarov (קָרוֹב)
means: close, present, within reach
Not distant.
Not abstract.
:backhand_index_pointing_right: right here, accessible

What was happening at the time?
The Book of Isaiah (especially chapters 40–55) is speaking to Israel during or just after exile in Babylon.
So the people were:
displaced
uncertain about the future
feeling disconnected and far from home (and from God)

Who is speaking?
The prophet Isaiah (or a later prophetic voice continuing his message) is speaking on behalf of God.
And the tone here is not judgment — it’s invitation.

What the verse meant to them
To people in exile, this was saying:
“Even now — in your confusion, your displacement, your not knowing —
you can turn toward God, and He is not far from you.”
It’s a call back into relationship, not perfection. 💚

Galatians 5:22–23 — “The Fruit of the Spirit”

These words come from a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the early Christian communities in Galatia. Paul was writing to people trying to understand how to live with faith in a very divided and confusing cultural world — where there was tension between old rules, new freedom, and how to live in a way that felt truly grounded.

In the middle of that, he describes something he calls “the fruit of the Spirit” — not as a checklist, but as what naturally grows when a life is rooted in something deeper than fear or pressure.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22–23)

In the original Greek text:
Agape (ἀγάπη) — love that is steady, unconditional, not based on earning
Chara (χαρά) — joy that isn’t dependent on circumstance
Eirēnē (εἰρήνη) — peace, meaning wholeness or inner harmony
Makrothymia (μακροθυμία) — patience, a long-suffering steadiness
Chrēstotēs (χρηστότης) — kindness that is useful, gentle, and good in action
Agathōsynē (ἀγαθωσύνη) — goodness, integrity in how one lives
Pistis (πίστις) — faithfulness, trustworthiness, reliability
Prautēs (πραΰτης) — gentleness, strength that is not harsh
Enkrateia (ἐγκράτεια) — self-control, the ability to stay steady within yourself 💚
