Hi dear family how is life treating you? i'm pretty down today but surving. i hope you all have a blessed Sunday.

been doing some work on my beggar poem, to make it more acceptable and readable, see what you think. i wrote the original poem many years ago after Jesus came and got me out of the pit i had been stuck in for near 7 years a reject even in my own understanding of self.

My Healing From Broken.

For years I lay beside the broken road,
my childhood blood had long turned cold,
my body paused in shattered years,
a mouth of dust my life full of tears.

Hope was thin as a dying breath,
pain the language left from death,
hungry ghosts waging a silent war,
falling down that pit without a floor.

I knew the taste of rot and stone,
in a dwelling place stuck on my own,
the world passing on cold iron feet,
understanding suffering as incomplete.

I became less than name or form,
a hollow cast in weathered storm,
forgotten under passing hate,
left to time and sealed fate.

Then—

a fragrance broke the choking air,
a rich presence within so very fair.
kneeling down in my broken stay
touching me where I lost my way.

I feared, perhaps he’ll turn aside,
no one stops where I reside—
yet in mercy He bent into the dust,
and lifted my ruin into trust.

Bread I never earned was given,
wine like sudden touch of heaven,
and in his voice the wounded heard
a name not bound to shame or word.

Shalom… beloved… child of mine…
come and eat, the bread is thine.
Drink again, your thirst is done,
you are seen, and you are one.

And hands unseen became a way,
lifting night into the day,
carrying me from broken ground
where silent suffering had bound.

A road became a rising hill,
a world I could not name stood still,
a house beyond imagining light,
swallowing my endless night.

Hands of healing, soft and near,
wiping years from blood and fear,
oil and touch and quiet breath,
undoing everything like death.

And I—
I could not understand the grace,
why love would meet me in that place,
why I, of all the lost and torn,
was held like something newly born.

Then came a knock upon my door,
“Come,” they said, “there is more—
a feast prepared, a name restored,
and Father waits beyond the door.”

Father…? The word like distant flame,
how could I still carry shame?
When all I was had been remade,
and darkness in me slowly swayed?

And I awoke in softest light,
no longer owned by endless night,
and gratitude, like rivers wide,
began to rise and not subside.

I had been taken from the road,
from weight no human should have known,
restored beyond what I could name—
and love had called me by my flame.

And deep within I finally understood:
Truly I cannot ever get lost.
For the truth holds me very dear
A purposeful life even down here.

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @MissGremlin , @Shaz51 , @REDLINEZ750 ,

Romans 13

- Obey those who rule over you - God gives all people that rule their power.

- For this reason pay taxes.

- Pay your obligations to everyone - taxes, respect, honour.

- Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another.

- Love does no wrong to a neighbour.

- Love, therefore, is the fulfilment of the law.

- Besides this it is time to be awake- our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

- Discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light.

- Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and don't make plans to gratify the desires of the flesh.

The commandment to love one another covers all other laws. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and sow to the Spirit.

Re: Christian Chat

@Realness i like Romans 13 a lot for for years i was taught to blindly obey leaders fro God had installed them but then when the Government was demanding things my conscience could not agree with, as well as knowing what a massive liars the majority of politicians have to be to even be in power, that the text my religious teachers had been using could not be interpreted to mean that.

@heartathome @tyme @ENKELI @Appleblossom

So the Spirit said when i opened the bible, He said now replace the title God with another Title that belongs to Him - The Truth - and then read it and see what you think then. So i did.

This is how it reads now!

"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from The Truth, and the authorities that exist are appointed by The Truth. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of The Truth, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is The Truth's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is The Truth's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are The Truth's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor."

After i did that i realised the the Title God has religious connotations which could easily get believers to agree with rulers who do not honour the truth but hide behind lies seeking control rather than governing. Even making laws enforcing what the truth tells is not true, or should not be done.

Jesus confirmed this to me by the way He understands Herod the rightful king of Israel Calling him a fox in Luke 13:31-32, such an address to authorities does not fit into the religious framework i had been taught anyhow.😁

So yes now i love Romans 13 for it backs up how i think about authorities. Truth must be served, if they be civil, or religious leaders, the principle stays the same. For by the fruit you recognise any tree, whether good or bad. So if what is asked is from the truth, or to serve the truth, be the truth spiritual, or on family, church or civil matters, we surely ought to be backing Truth's endeavours, yet when they lie to us, especially in office they ought to be automatically disqualified - i reckon scripture does, for they have NO authority as liars in God's truth. (Revelation 21:8)

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @Shaz51 , @REDLINEZ750 , @MissGremlin ,

Romans 14

- Welcome the person weak in faith - don't argue about disputed matters e.g. food, days.

- Who are you to judge another's servant? Before their own Lord they stand or fall.

- We belong to the Lord.

- We will all stand before the judgement seat of God.

- Therefore, let us no longer judge one another. Instead decide never to put a stumbling block in the way of your brother or sister.

- Nothing is unclean in itself. But someone may consider it unclean. Walk in love. Do not destroy by what you eat, someone for whom Christ died.

- The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

- Pursue what promotes peace and builds up one another.

- Whatever you believe about these things - food, holy days - keep between yourself and God.

- Blessed is the one who does not condemn themself by what they believe.

- Everything that is not from faith is sin.

There are still disputed things within the Christian faith. We each are to act in accordance to our own faith but not judge others if they do things differently to us.

Re: Christian Chat

This is what I took from Romans 14 @Realness

Believers in Rome were disagreeing over food (especially meat linked to idols) and special religious days.
Some had strong freedoms, others had sensitive consciences.
This led to judging, tension, and division within the church.
Paul the Apostle wrote to guide them toward acceptance, unity, and love over being “right.”

Accept each other as God accepts you

Each person is accountable to God, not to others.

Don’t judge one another over personal convictions.

Be mindful not to cause others to stumble by how you use your freedom.

I love what you said at the end of the post! Amen sister!

Hows the studying going? 💚

Re: Christian Chat

Hi @heartathome ,

Thanks for your thoughts on Romans 14. I particularly like the comment "Be mindful not to cause others to stumble by how you use your freedom." My notes didn't quite capture that. Your notes added the context also.

The theology study is progressing. Seven out of ten units completed. I have until July so I'm on track. The assessment is a multiple choice test on all ten units. Open book but still need to be able to find the section when the questions are in a mixed order. The revision at the end will take some time.

I'm experimenting with exercise at the moment. I have an exercise bike and working out if exercise takes or adds to my energy level. 30 minutes does take from it but I may pursue it anyway. I am overweight (a lot) and don't want to go to the next level of carrying even more weight.

Today I am listening to my USB full of Christian music. The stereo plays them in random order - I have no idea what song will be next. I haven't played it in quite a while.

I still haven't really got into my next book (same author) but I think it is about to be a page turner. Although I do remember writing that last time.

I went shopping yesterday. The petrol station was queued (gave it a miss - tank still very fullish) but the supermarket still appeared properly stocked. The chemist has begun doing weekly orders for anything non urgent. How are things in your area?

Hope all continues to go well for you. Thanks again for you contribution to Romans 14. Only two more chapters and then I will be working on 1st and then 2nd Corinthians.

Re: Christian Chat

Hi @DownMoreThanUp ,

Sorry this is a slow response.

Thanks for adding your thoughts on Romans 13.

I'm not sure about replacing God with The Truth but I understand why you would. And if the Spirit has led you to that then I'm in error.

This is at a very different level but the work situation that tripped me up and led to my breakdown involved the promotion of those who did the wrong thing. Instead of directions to do the right thing the reporting line was damaged and encouraged both not working and incompetence. I worked anyway and maintained what I thought was a high standard of work but I was at war with the reporting line. Three levels of the reporting line. The first two levels being very damaged and the third was lazy and just supported the first two levels. What to do when authority is not advocating for the right thing? They are still the ones with the power? And God has allowed, if not appointed, them to power. To obey or not obey? It's not an easy question. It's not always possible to get out of the situation.

But Paul's examples assume leaders advocating for what is good and right. Paul is always about doing what is good.

I've never read the Bible through with the intent of answering the question what to do with corrupt leadership.

I can understand you wanting to reconcile scripture with leaders who don't serve Truth.
