John 16

- Continuing on from John 15 Jesus is talking with His disciples.

- Telling them what will happen: rejection, suffering.

- Jesus tells them in a little while He is going away and then in a little while He will come back.

- The disciples struggle to understand and then when they think they have understood Jesus tells them that they are all about to scatter to their own homes.

Some of Jesus' teaching:

• Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don't go away the Counsellor will not come to you. If I go, I will send Him to you.
• When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.
• So you also have sorrow now. But I will see you again. Your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.
• Until now you have not asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
• I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.
• I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world!

I had a thought about prayer. From "Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete." This and Jesus' other promises relating to answered prayer. It's about what we pray for. If we can hear the prayer God wants us to pray then our joy can be complete. Not so easy to do.

Just saw your post from yesterday. Is today any better?

I loved the end of the post: "Rejoice Always, Pray Continually, Give Thanks In All Circumstances - Such an awesome word living when things are not well." I found those words and your response so encouraging.

I think of you often and pray for you. I marvel at the integration of the alters and hope that maybe the depression has something to do with the original splitting and now also can be dealt with. The doctor's appointment connected to the nausea is soon isn't it?

I love that you can communicate about Jesus being there right with you in you current challenge.

I hope today is better than yesterday.

There are some people on the Forums who do an amazing job of communicating it's okay to be having a bad day. It's okay to not feel great. It's okay to have a lie down for a bit.

You're one of the best at communicating patience with the situation.

How are you, my friend? How is your day going?

Thanks for the post from Philippians. "Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks." I wrote it out so that the words may penetrate me.

Today I am not feeling the gentle peace and joy I usually feel. We had a tactless family visitor yesterday. I felt and feel of less worth after his visit. My sense of equilibrium has been damaged.

I'm trying to use your scripture, one from @DownMoreThanUp , and my own from John 16 to restore God's victory.

And now I am trying by writing to you. All of them are working a little bit. 🙂

I feel a little bit better now.

The level of depression was deeper than it been for years, obviously i had denied myself meds for too long. It got so bad last night, that if not for Jesus coming around and arresting me in my self hate things could have easily gone wrong. (My wife could only pray for me for i was too far gone to be able to talk reasonably.)

So today i have been forced to go back on meds, (the strongest version of the uplifting meds one,) but am still pretty deep down, although out of danger right now. i know it may be a few days for the meds to completely cycle me out of myself like this, but i find it very hard to use these meds, and have already been having conflict within myself about this again. (i really do not like the potent side of my meds much and find it hard accepting i must medicate myself away being like this again. i hope this will not flare up too much as the days on those meds go by.)

The good thing of last night is that although it looked i was back in my 'old' self' i did not rage like i usually do at such levels of depression, and it was the deep sadness, as well as the bad things done, also to me, being in this alter, that were the issues, which had me despairing my existence.

i'm down and physically very unwell as well. They seem to always combine lately. Seeing doctors at the hospital about the nausea soon, however i have many times before seen doctors about this without any relief. Will be taking the uplifting meds until we both judge it is safe to try without again.

I'm having a slow day today @Realness I did go and have a coffee with a friend at her place this morning. I'm writing all my poems up on another thread at the moment and just hanging.

I'm sorry that your tactless family member has brought you down! Totally understandable! Was it directed at you? I would like to say something to them! 😠 You are worthy just as you are and you're looking after your mum as well as trying to live the best life that you can! The medication side effects that you have is like having a chronic illness. Most people wouldn't understand that! I'm sure if it happened to them, it would be a different story!
