@ENKELI Thank you for sharing your thoughts about all that. i do understand caution is warranted but sometimes such stops good things from happening, and even can cause bad things to keep happening.
Today's attitude often is i do not like hearing the truth so i get angry with those who speak it, yet when we suffer lies the truth becomes even more valuable than ever.
As for members not being able to contact each other is a weakness not a strength, and i'm glad to hear that some flexibility does exist behind the scene.
i have had forum experiences for many years and have gained some really valuable internet friends. Friends i have been able to share my suffering, as well as my good life with, and they theirs, for over two decades at times.
i have an email friend who suffers from chronic schizo effective disorder in China. And another friend i met suicidally depressed and addicted to Barbiturates and alcohol, and who then found Jesus in his life because of visiting the forums, from Finland. Another depressed person in Britain i shared my faith with for years. And for years i had three friends in America. Although i have recently lost contact with two of them, which i had supported for many years before that. One friend likely lost to suicide, for that is where she was at when we spoke last. (The poor woman was always depressed at her worst during her periods, often suicidally so. But then her dad died, and or communication fell apart and i fear she might have lost the good fight soon after that. For i have not heard from her for over 6 months despite sending emails, and because i know she was in a major crisis when we spoke last.)
So yes it can be very beneficial to be able to chat privately, although i acknowledge that such could also carry risks.
Sometimes internet friends are the only friends people have. Like my friend in Finland is a complete hermit and does not venture out at all. Not that we write much these days. He is all good and so am i, but we have supported each other many times over the years going through hard times.
My remaining friend in America has been a most valuable friend. Always praying when i'm in crisis and me always for him when he is. We write when we have need for support, and otherwise only on birthdays, Christmas and New years greetings. Yet i know Jesus has used this man to pray for me when no one else did. And my American friend trusts me more, sharing his depressed state of mind than he does his wife. For we have communicated rock bottom or triggered with each other so often, as both of us suffer from medication hardy depression. Over the years my friend has often suffered dangerously low, and, like me, he came close to finalising it a few times. Although last year he found something to aid him down deep, although i forgotten what it was. Something unexpected, and tailor made. He was so thankful and glad he finally found something to aid him at 69.
Anyway i hope you are fine. My day was the pits this morning but i have picked up as the day came along and feel much better now. i slept 7 hours today, this is beginning ot happen more and more often now.🎉
