Hear Hear hear hear ... too rigid and doing more harm as opposed to doing what they are bein paid to do.

Mens rights are suffering in many ways... with hey ... wait a minute... that aint great for the litle boyz growing up.

I feel for your ex foster child from a range of angles, though I have never been close to jail. I did ask once to go to jail, instead of paying off some fines, but they wanted the money more than my contrition. Hmmm.

System is holding my son and I down too. Despite all my work, study and effort and goodwill.

I used to be such a good girl " fit into th system type"...as the best we got... to less than impressed as a lil ole laydee.

I also actually had an abusive foster father, who dangled me, as a 7 yo, to get social kudos. Yeah I also know the charity scene from that angle. Definitely know that i am not the only one who had it hard... cos there bloomin dormitories of us ... when we were lucky to have a roof.

I would still appreciate more recognition for my experience, the gamut. I am not a bot.

Sudden memories about being told over and again that I have a spirit of ... are coming up for me and I'm a bit emotional, otherwise good.

It's an old memory from my time in the Pentecostal 'church' which has shadowed me for many years. I asked AI about the particular spirit, and it came up with a couple of Bible verses but interestingly it said that the term has often been used against women, to shame assertiveness or leadership.

It suggested that I could translate it into something like, 'I'm aware of patterns in myself that I want to change'. It's just something that I'm trying to process at the moment. 💛

Thank you for sharing so openly. I can hear how heavy and exhausting it's been to keep trying, only to feel pushed down by systems that were meant to help. That kind of wear-and-tear is really draining.

What you went through growing up, and how it still affects you now, matters. It makes sense that it would still hurt.

@Appleblossom Hearing your kind of stories used to make me so angry, but now i mourn. It is so sad that money determines peoples lives and who and what they are does not mean anything, simply forcing the fit.

For me the frustration has been how inmates are turned into repeat offenders and how at times they are at a loss how to behave in the 'free' world. And their whole lives are literally robbed from them spending it behind bars. While things can be done that would cost far less than incarcerating them. Yet they reject any such attempts. For punishment is always about denial of good things and shaming those who did wrong instead of helping them away from being like that.

Once years ago i worked with a 16 year old Aboriginal boy. And for a whole year kept him out of jail, and had him earn his own income. When Christmas came at the end of that year, he proudly told me, emotionally and deeply moved, that this was his first Christmas out of jail since he was 9, and the first Christmas he had financed with his own money.

(For he had absolutely loved it when the police searched him on the streets that Weekend, and had demanded he give them prove that the money in his wallet was his, and he could show them his payslip. While being body searched walking on the streets i had never experienced in my life. Let alone having to prove where i got my money from. It can be hard to imagine what life is lie for some out there.)

- The Parable of the Shrewd Manager. Manager loses his job. He is dishonest and makes deals with the master's debtors. It looks like he is praised for this: "the children of this age are more shrewd then the children of light in dealing with their own people."

- But it only works on earth. Won't gain a person entry into eternal dwellings.

- If not faithful with worldly wealth then can't be trusted with true wealth.

- Can't serve two masters. Can't serve God and money.

- Everyone is urgently invited to enter the kingdom of God.

- The Rich Man and Lazarus. Lazarus, covered with sores, lying at the rich man's gate. Both die. Lazarus comforted in heaven. The rich man in torment.

- Chasm between comfort and torment. Can't swap places. Those in torment can see those in the place of comfort?

- Rich man - send Lazarus to warm my brothers - if they won't hear Moses' Law then they won't hear someone risen from the dead.

A chapter about money. Not letting worldly riches stop us from entering Jesus' way. Everyone is urgently invited to enter the kingdom of God. Suggests God is everywhere, actively trying to get each person's attention away from money. Lazarus, being very poor, had automatic access to eternal comfort.
