Hello

Hello

Evening, so lonely right now. Life hasn't gone to plan. One wants to be around me but they do tell me why. I just get cut off. How can I improve myself if I don't know

Re: Hello

Hi @Leglessfrog078, I haven't been following this discussion, so am not really familiar with your situation. I also have never had children, so no advice from me there. But I am up tonight too and can chat for a while if you like. Kind wishes, Maz

Re: Hello

Hi @Leglessfrog078.

Really glad to hear that your GP helped with Child Care. I can't remember whether you have a mental health support person but if not, that is something your GP can help with through a mental health care plan.

It's great to hear that you connected with someone and you felt 'normal' for a bit. So often, particularly when my kids were younger, I really wondered whether I was the only person in the world with the circus that our house sometimes felt like. I wasn't, of course, but I think it can take so much energy to manage everything that it can be consuming. It is difficult to see beyond the walls of our house and with that comes lots of feelings of isolation and questions about being the only one going through it. I don't know if you find that, but there were moments that I definitely did. It almost always helped to know I was not the only one going through it.

I am wondering whether a family support worker might be someone you could benefit from having around? I have had a couple of different support workers through different organisations with different titles/roles etc, and have mostly had pretty positive experiences with them. Sometimes I feel like I am outnumbered by the kids (which I am!) and an extra person can help with that. They have helped me find ideas to try out that my foggy brain couldn't see easily. You could talk to your GP, the school or the daycare and they will hopefully be able to point you in the right direction if it is something you're interested in.

If you haven't already, something that may also be of benefit is to talk with people at the school about some of the challenges you're having. The school is like our second family and have been incredibly helpful with the kids and some of the challenges I have faced with them. Recently one of mine started to test some boundaries in a way that I struggled a lot with. They weren't listening to me at all and nothing seemed to work. I met with someone at the school and we made a bit of a plan that involved meeting with my little person and myself, and discussing our house rules and why they're important. It was kind of like this extra adult (who is in a bit of an authority position as far as my kid sees) was confirming that the rules, expectations and consequences were fair and reasonable.

I guess what I am getting at, is that you're not alone and that there is support out there for you and your family. And it's totally ok to take it and use it.

I hope there is something good in today for you.

Re: Hello

Parenting is hard work @Leglessfrog078, no matter what your circumstances, and you have a lot of difficult circumstances going on ..... so just keep doing your best with what you can every day. It’s the consistancy the kids will need more than anything else. Their world has been rocked and they will keep testing the boundaries to try to work out whether you are serious about them, and able to keep them in place. That’s what gives them their sense of safety and security.

Wel done you .... keep going .....

Sometimes it can feel like we are not getting anywhere, but when you look back a little further in, when your new life is more established, you will see that you have achieved a lot, and so have the kids.

💐💕
