I have lived with bi-polar since a child. Diagnosed in 2000 at age 45. By that time I had two wonderfull teenage sons. My youngest son struggled with symptoms since highschool and has recently been diagnosed with BP. My sons inherited a double dose of BP from both sides of the family. My youngest son is in a stable relationship, is very artistic and creative and we basically help to look after and support each other. Nothing could ever convince me that I should not have had children (realy did not understand my illness at that time). Feel that I am on both sides of the fence now, but never regret bringing my boys into the world.

You're 'having a lend', as the expression goes, or have you had yourself voluntarily sterilised? i think that you probably haven't. hmmm

Im wondering if your view was formed on your own or whether rather it was formed also partly due to experiencing other members of society suggesting that you or others with a M.I are a burden?
I find the "survival of the fittest" world you are suggesting sad.
Sure, one view could be that by preventing future births of people with severe mental illnesses, autism, intellectual disabilities like Downs Sydrome and other genetic disorders and so on, it could reduce the economic burden on society and prevent those individuals themselves from experiencing a life long of suffering.
Then there would be only healthy, capable, fit people around which sounds on the surface ideal.
If you give it deeper thought,is this really good/ideal though?
Wouldn't this create a selfish and self-absorbed world where people purely lived for themselves?
In a "perfect" world where everyone is healthy and fit,who needs anybody?
People with the above disorders bring many great things to society (like creativity in your case).
Perhaps the most important thing's they bring though is the gift of teaching people/society compassion, gentleness, selflessness, helping one another, and depth of character.
Without them, yes, society may be wealthier, stronger and fitter, but they will be poorer of the things that really matter.

Hello @AlienBP2
You have a very creative side covering quite an expanse
music, photography, writing, song writing
you also have a creative sense of humour that you admitted to whilst bantering with another creative artist on here. Was interesting and amusing sitting back watching the responses unfold. clever on both parts.
I am sensing some sadness though. This I understand.
I was a sensitive child and am a very sensitive adult.
There was talk of mental illness with one of my father's brothers. He died at the age of 34, death recorded as unknown.........
There was not such a large cocktail of choices of disorders in that time frame
I have a diagnosis of major depression and anxiety. That is all it is to me a diagnosis. It is not who I am.
So I do hope that with such an amazing array of creative talent, the sadness you might be feeling is acknowledged, allowed to be felt and converted to art your gift.
schizophrenia and bi polars too are just diagnoses in this time.... we do not know the future or the diagnoses if any
so we live as ourselves in the now
all the best with all that art
