I think it was important you opened this discussion @Faith-and-Hope
I appreciate your feeling quietly @dragonflygirl
I put some of my responses on @Phoenix_Rising Wave thread.
I have rarely felt I needed the mods per se. I notice them. I might have even been a little tetchy with them at first rather than dependent. Thank god they forgave me and seem to have taken on a few of my points.
I also see their role more as a way of preventing the forums to become a nasty dumping ground for negativity which can be common on the net without moderation. So their presence exerts a positive tho often invisible influence.
I saw this as a communication to the whole world wide web .. to any involved or concerned with mental health issues ... and was glad to find an Australian site in my home town that had values aligned with my own. I just felt WOW and jumped in holus bolus.
I also am totally behind the PEER aspect of forums. I believe there is so much untapped wisdom and other emotional or cerebral qualities amongst those who might identify on both LE and Carer sides of the forum.
I feel privileged to have been a part of this experimental evolving process.
Stick the big toe in and have a go.
I am guided by natural processes more than oughts. Not much that oughta happen happened for me. so I look at ants, plants and flying bugs.
I am lucky in that I have had access to top levels of practitioners in a wide range of modalities and some training and am a little aware of the field beyond just my own feelings or experiences. Some of that was a positive outcome of my marriage where I witnessed and engaged in top level mental health consumption with education and awareness of standards on both sides of the Pacific Ocean .. ie the United States and here.
Thanks for taking it seriously @Former-Member All that Moreno, Psychodrama and Group stuff is important.
I have heaps of faith in @Phoenix_Rising She is amazing and we are lucky to have her.
