under 30s thread

under 30s thread

thought it might be cool to get everyone under 30 years old to share their experiences on the forum
just to help each other with "young people stuff"

Re: under 30s thread

Thanks @Appleblossom I will advocate for them for as long as I live no matter who says I can't have a say I will keep pushing and pushing them until they get what they deserve, a loving home with people who care and give them what they need. I'm going to keep fighting until they get it. If I could take them all in and live as a big family, i'd do it any day I would of done it 4 years ago when I left care (if they didn't throw me on my ass with nothing it might of been more realistic).
And my brother, yeah I know, he has his issues, and he can be violent, but when you have lived through what we have and then you are put with other young people experiencing trauma and MH issues, well it doesn't go down so well. 4 teenagers with multiple "issues" each all living under the one roof was never going to work especially when individual support is lacking and there is little structure. When things go wrong all they seem to do is shuffle these young people around, causing more disruption to their lives and simply just moving the issue elsewhere. If my brother is able to leave the house whenever he likes, sometimes out all night and all day without anybody seeming to attend to his welfare well something is seriously wrong there. Even if he did 'escape' through an unlocked window or unbolted fly screen they should be looking for him instead of letting him run a muck, then wonder why he does silly irresponsible things like shoplift, because there is NO guidance on appropriate behaviour, NO staff member of working looking for him or attending to his welfare and NO follow up after these incidents.
How is a kid of 17 supposed to improve their life with nobody around them to help?

Re: under 30s thread

And also the last couple of years it has been me who has taught him the stuff I thought he would be learning through his supports. I taught him how to use a washing machine, how to go into the supermarket and get what you need, how to catch public transport, that's all been me out of my own free will because I am a nice person, yet his workers are supposed to teach him this stuff and don't. My brother went from so anxious he wouldn't even open the car door to go into the supermarket to now i can send him in, wait outside and he can do it mostly independently. Life skills!!

Re: under 30s thread

I believe you @Former-Member

Good Luck. You do have to be kind to you to survive.

People not doing the jobs they are paid for is becoming a bit of a theme tonight for me.

Atm have a friend about to retire who has worked in disability most of his life and I think he probably does a good job and actually likes his job and his clients. So there are a few who care.

I have spent a little time in his house on Christmas Day .. believe it or not. and hear a few stories.

30 years ago he was whistleblower about abuse etc at the old KEW COTTAGES. Left the field due to bullying and being cut off by his colleagues but returned to it after a few years had past.

He would not be my friend if he did not have the guts to make an ethical stand.

I have an atypical view about vulnerable violent young men. The older of my 2 brothers was like that. too. No help No support. ZILCH. JUST ME ...only 18 months older than him with my own s**t. to deal with. and stressed to the max by the poor bugger .. Yes they can be both VULNERABLE and VIOLENT.

Mostly they can be reasoned with if people are bothered. In a resi setting ... they certainly have the access to their charges and that they do not manage to do those basics .. like you described .. riles me ...he is not in my mate's house. Cos he would have gotten better support.

Sometimes the stuffed toy convos on this site give me the pip. .I think I have been burying my frustration about that.

Glad to have a real relevant chat. Not pretty maybe .. but that is what this site is about. Its not a bloomin art site or a kindergarten.

If it gets taken over too much by middle class people and their concerns which are fine and everyone deserves some access to a forum like this.

But I have a funny feeling it could be AT the EXPENSE of those that need this service more. I may leave if I feel NICE means more than REAL.

Mostly tho I have seen the people behind the scenes on SANE forums ... make some good calls.

Good night.

I think I am a bit manic.

I am up to 4 prn today ... need enough to knock out an elephant.

Re: under 30s thread

wow @Former-Member what a good attitude - no you can't do anything about it and this is the calmest you have been about that - and you did it all ny yourself. I feel like a proud mumma bear with her little baby bear growing up right before her eyes - sooooooooo proud of you

As for the other thing - so many of us here have those days when we don't know why we exist at all - my last time was last night. But you are here and I am happy about that
