Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

The little things that bug you can add up over time.

After an exhausting day at work the other day, and a long journey home stuck in traffic, I came home to find that my partner had left a pile of dirty dishes in the sink. I felt disproportionately angry and annyoyed. REALLY angry and annonyed. Usually I can shake off little things like this, but this day I couldn't. I felt I was being irrationable and unreasonable, so I called a girlfriend. I just felt like I needed to vent about this seemingly small thing. It was so nice to hear someone say, 'it's normal to have days like these, you just got to get it off your chest'.

So this is a place to release stress about things no matter how small or big you think they are. We often hear people say that they feel like they shouldn't complain when other people are going through much tougher circumstances. But remember, it's the little things that can build up over time, which can break be the straw that break the camel's back.

So please use this space to get stuff of your chest, and release some stress. It's kind of like our own stress reduction kit.

Re: Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

Well ..,, Yhis popped uat the right time .,,,, Thanks @NikNik .....

It's a small whinge comparatively, but here goes ...,,

Headed off down south from where we have been staying, to spend Chrustmas with tellies, and then head back up. I took a jigsaw puzzle with me cos that's part of Christmas for me, and a connectivity with my mum, whom I lost 15 years ago .... and with 2 sibs with intellectual impairment / personality issues, father a bit caught up in his own life, WH (husband) VERY caught up in his own life, and the kids - the ones who are not married and are travelling with us, and who like jigsaw puzzles - staying in their own room .... the jigsaw puzzle has been my centre of feeling like its Christmas, and of a sense of family .....

I have been trying to do family things as much as I can during the day (gathering of the clan here, so spending my one with aunts and uncles) so the only time for the jigsaw puzzle has been the evenings after dinner .... right ?

Wrong.

Small hotel room .... WH exhausted from his taxing regimen and not sleepin well ..... only a small desk lamp that doesn't spread the light to try to work under wihile WH sleeps from 8:30pm ..... after I have already stepped into the bathroom for half an hour to avoid all the "crunch, munch, swish, glue, scrabble, scrabble" and nauseating small of melted chocolate from his nightly choc-treat .... can hardly see the puzzle pieces and working sideways on a long coffee table ....

So .... have spent the last few nights in the bathroom on the forum for a couple of hours, knowing how difficult it would be to try to work in the puzzle under those conditions in the main room, and not feeling tired enough to sleep with WH snoring.

Looked at the sorry start of the puzzle there last night, when we are packing up to leave here this morning, and decided to give it a try anyway .....

Was sooooo slow .... difficult to see ..... awkward working sideways ..... small puzzle but many pieces the same ..... and WH wakes up and asks me to throw something over the lamp cos it's disturbing him ..... he who then wakes up at 5:00am, waking me in the process btw, to "clunk, clunk, crinkle, ting, ting" eat his breakfast with a brighter light on .... oh, and cranks up the heater to a sauna temp to dry all his work-out clothes and cos his fingers are constantly going numb with the cold .....

Grrrr, grrrr, and grrrrr .....

Thinking of skipping my morning walk to get get the puzzle at least halfway done .... just to achieve something that is for me ....

:face_with_rolling_eyes:😣😕❗️

Whinge over .... sigh.

Onward, upwards .....

Re: Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

Ha ! Salvaged my puzzle .... !

I had done about a third of it by the time we let, so I carefully deconstructed it into several large pieces, placed them in the box, and packed it out with plastic bags to secure the pieces and make sure they didn't come apart on the trip back up north today ....

WH tends to sleep on the couch while we're here cos he has recognised that we are not able to co-ordinate over his regimen and all it entails at this (night-time) end of the day .... disgruntled at the thought that I ought to be the one adapting in support of his "ultra-healthy lifestyle" .... but being pragmatic enough to keep the peace according to our uneasy status quo.

So ... I have the bedroom to myself and can stay up for a while with my puzzle while all the munching and crunching is going on inside, along with a far earlier bedtime.

Cant solve some things atm .... but I've got this one ....

Re: Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

Aw @Faith-and-Hope

I feel some kind of internal agony - I could not stand someone having their crunch, munch, chew, slurp etc nightly choc-fest earned disrupting the rest of your life and then you are supposed to fit in with his programme

Okay - I get it that he has to have his "regime" but why you? - I hope you have worked this out

It's an interesting story though - btw - how much chockie does he eat each night?

And you have the patience of a saint - I could not do it - and it seems unfair that you have to put up with all of this and yet not disturb his peace while he makes sure you are disturbed

I'm sorry - I have to say it - in some ways it's funny - in other ways I want to cry - you could make a sit-com of it

And @Shaz51 - your rellies are saying that your husband should be getting better on his medication - we know better

I honestly don't know how you girls do it - I wonder if I was wrong about my ex - Sitnsulk - thinking back to our marriage I think he has as dark shadow over him - maybe he was deeply depressed - I can't tell or go back and check it out

Some things I can't change - so I have to let it go - you girls can't change the guys either but you are staying there with it - for a million and one reasons I guess

I have to love you for it - truly

Dec

Re: Squeeze my ball - for stress relief

Hi @Uggy78 .... welcome to the forums.

That "like" was an "I hear you ...."

My husband and I are living somewhat estranged in the same household owing to him being in denial with an eating disorder, and therefore undiagnosed and untreated, and the affect that is having on all our relationships. While his behaviour has become absurd in some senses, and he was being emotionally abusive at times in the last couple of years, we have achieved an uneasy status quo where we all try to ignore the fact that he is unwell and it has reduced the pressure over all of us. In turn, he is feeling less threatened about keeping to his rigid daily regimen of diet and exercise, and has hidden the worst and obviously most dysfunctional of his behaviours, which has reduced pressures further ....

From what you have described, it might be an idea if you set up a separate living space for him, in order to shield the kids from more trauma, and do what you can to help him from there .... finding ways to "make do" until the real issues can be addressed properly ....

Others on the forums have done this. It's not ideal, but can be do-able .... and yes, it's walking a tightrope, but you have said that you love him to bits, and that's my reason for walking a tightrope too .... just trying to walk out guy home ....

All the best, and keep posting here ....

I will tag you from some of our more social threads so you can meet some of the others around here and feel the power of our community support ....

Chin up Hon ... walking with you ....
