which anti depression tablets work
hi I am Shaz51 other half asking if Anyone have sucess with Anti - Depressivanyts -- if so which one ???

How long has he been on them??? It takes around 4 weeks to notice any effect...
For me, I didn't think they were working, until an event happened at work that would usually completely throw me into a down mood for the day didn't. Rather than being upset about it, I went "okie doke then". I think it shocked me as much as my workmate. 🙂

thank you for you message, my husband has been taking them for 6 weeks , his goes around in cycles , had a few hicups but has taken anti anxiety tablets everyday as well

If he's been taking them for 6 weeks and you both don't feel that they are working it may be worth seeing your GP again.
I say "you both" because for me, I spent a fair while thinking the 2nd medication (mood stabilisers) weren't working, until I spoke to a friend who disagreed and said I'd improved almost immediately.
As I said earlier, I also think talk therapy is very helpful. If you get a Mental Health Plan from your GP, you can get 10 free appointments with a psychologist per calendar year. I have been on a MHP for close to 3 years, so I have not paid to see my psychologist once, which is brilliant.
The talk therapy helps me understand that I have a disordered thinking pattern, and I have "homework" to fill out when I am struggling.

I have been through a few different Antidepressants (some SSRIs and one SNRI) all prescribed by a GP.
None seemed to work very well, SNRI made me manic.
Went to a new GP who wouldn't prescribe anything without me seeing a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist.
Psychiatrist came up with a med combo (SSRI and Mood stabiliser) choosing the dosage and the specific brand based on my personal symptoms. It has been by far the most effective med treatment I have had.
I know it's not an option for many but I would strongly suggest seeing a psychiatrist if possible, even if only to determine meds.

Yes , My husband I have been through a few different Antidepressants , None seemed to work very well
until he ended up in hospital and then they put him on Different Antidepressants plus anti anxiety meds as well
they have made a different ,but has some side affects , and he still has up and down days

Hi @Shaz51, @CherryBomb is right is the fact of other medication has to be considered. It unfortunitly is bit of trial and error, One that I was on long ago ended me in hospital with the most least side effect written in the Dr guildlines. sorry for no easy answer on this one from me.

Yes it is bit of trial and error @Heart
It is good that these meds have made a difference in my husband`s life , it has taken a long time
now and then he decides to go off the meds and within a few days I am telling him he needs to take the meds again
