im trying to work out how much stress can really have on the body. im getting alot of mixed signals within.
as in im getting period cramps and twinges but nothing however its hard to tell if its anxiety or what it is as when in certain states i get twinges in line with the hips. i know the names of all these things, just embarrassed to say them at the moment. im getting concerned considering its been 3 months now since my last period and i dont want to tell my gp.... yet.....
I have been wondering a similar thing at the moment myself, though mine is more that my very able to predict 28 day cycle is now anywhere from about 2-4 weeks for the last few months and it's so annoying. I have lots of funky pains and twinges and cramps happening too. I don't have any answers, though I do know stress can interfere with everything in our body. I have an appointment with a GP on Monday and will ask then, but will follow along here with interest if anyone shares anything.
Hugs. It sucks sometimes in so many ways!

Re: Ladies Please
@outlander, hey sweetie,
I know it's sometimes embarassing to talk about personal things, but confiding in a friend or parent or someone will help. Also don't feel shy about going to a G.P. and talking to the Doctor. My Doctor is really lovely and I can talk to him about family problems or personal and he helps me. It's better to tell a friend or someone, a problem shared, is a problem halved my Grandad used to say.
Take good care sweet outlander.

Re: Ladies Please
hi @BambiFawn i havent got anyone offline to talk about these things with. if i meantioned a skipped period to my mother she would be thinking im preganant and then trouble will start. theres no chance im preganant at all.
when i skipped it last time i had to go for tests for like ovary cysts and bloods but it all came back clear except there was an infection but other than that it was fine and wouldnt affect my cycle at all.

Re: Ladies Please
I used to have a very predictable 28-day cycle too @outlander. Well, I did until I had to have an antipsychotic injection. I haven't had a period since (and that was like years and years ago). I still get cramps every month but nothing else ever happens. I wish I were normal!

Re: Ladies Please
3 months is a long time @outlander but you've also been through a lot too. I think a while ago you had a similar experience also?
Anxiety definitely mucks around with my tummy. I 'feel' it there in lots of ways. Add some eating issues in to the mix and it's so hard for me to work out what might be happening.

Re: Ladies Please
@outlander
While many factors can cause irregular periods, a stress-induced hormonal imbalance is one of the most common causes. When a woman is under a lot of stress, the adrenal glands produce more of the hormone cortisol in response.
This excess cortisol influences the amount estrogen and progesterone that are produced, which in turn can cause a woman to miss her period. Other psychological issues, such as depression, can also cause irregular periods and painful menstruation.
So I would speak to the GP about it.

Re: Ladies Please
I'll admit I mentioned it once years ago to my then GP but never brought it up again. It's probably too late now as in a few years I'll be at menopause age anyway (the women in my family hit menopause around the early forties).

Re: Ladies Please
@outlander Stress releases the hormones that are damaging for our bodies. When we are not using those Hormones for the reason they were released, while in an anxious fearful state. The Chemicals (Hormones) need to go somewhere they don't pass out in our urine. If these chemicals are starting to build up in our body they actually turn acidic & poisonous to our organs. If a person has an organ in the body that is already failing, or not as strong as the other organs then this acidic fluid will build up in or around, the weaker organ. This will cause all sorts of issues within our body. So periods can be stopped, or the cycle can be messed up due to the body trying to stop the overload of dangerous Chemicals from attacking to the point of shut down. Unless of cause if a woman is pregnant then of cause the period will stop after a time. Long periods of trauma & stress are so damaging to the mind & health of the natural functions of our bodies. You can experience period pains without getting a period, this means that your Hormones need help as they are not balanced; & Doctors usually put a woman on meds to fix this problem. Good nutrition is a must & proper sleep, plenty of water. NO soft drinks or Alcohol & stop worrying. Us woman are so complicated we all need to just examining our lives me included. Then just take time out from all the, overthinking & bad self image we put ourselves through at times. You are a grown up outlander tell your mum that she needs to see you that way, & you do have to find your path in life. She needs to take control of her own little ones & stop leaning on you so much. I needed to say that. I hope I didn't step out of line then? You are just one person outlander, your health has to come first! Your mum needs to grow up & take responsibility now. Love Bella XO 🙂
