Self assessment Questions

Self assessment Questions

I find that an important part of 'recovery ' is to do a self assessment.

Im wondering if anyone has any questions to ask oneself to self assess where we're at, how far weve come, where theres still room for improvement.

any help/advice is appreciated 🙂

Re: Self assessment Questions

hi @outlander,

i agree self-reflection (or self-assessment) is an important part of our recovery journeys.

the questions you have posed are awesome questions to ask oneself because they are positive, practical, look at your strengths, show willingness and openness for improvement, and consider personal change over time.

I think the types of questions we might want to ask ourselves may be slightly different for everyone...but the fact you are willing to explore these questions yourself is a great thing, especially if you maintain the positive, strengths-based, and constructive approach you have already taken 🙂

Re: Self assessment Questions

What a cool topic @outlander 🙂

I'm really goal directed so a part of my 'recovery' is having pretty clear goals and thinking about where I am with regard to reaching them. It kind of backfires sometimes though as it can leave me feeling like I'm not as close as I'd like to be. To stop myself from feeling miserable about that, I also like to think about what other things I've been doing or attending to that may have pushed those goals a bit further back than planned. It kind of balances things out for me. It can help me see where I can focus my efforts more (or less), what's working and what's not, what might need to change etc.

I think about what my "lowest ever" has looked like and assess where I am compared to that. I think about how close I may have come to reaching that point again, whether anything has changed (has "low" changed the way it 'looks', how long it lasts, what I do when I am reaching 'low') etc.

I did some really cool (and tough!) work on values with my mental health worker and it helped me to be clear about what it is that I really value. I think about how much I am living in a way that aligns with my core values and what may be helping me do that/preventing me from doing that.

I'm not sure if that helps, especially as like NotLabelDefined said, it would be so unique to you, but they're the types of things I ponder and think about for me 🙂
