My Thai Discovery Journey

My Thai Discovery Journey

Hi All,

Two weeks ago I decided that I needed to step outside my comfort zone and change my scenery by heading over to North Thailand for a month. It’s not a completely new experience as I have been in this area before but this time I will be there for longer, will venture further afield and will travel alone.

I am excited by this journey and intend it to be one of self discovery as much as absorbing the culture of this beautiful and friendly part of the world. My daily Yoga sessions and a Meditation Workshop have prepared me to be at peace with myself and being in this new environment will further facilitate a sense of calm as well as enlightenment.

I invite you to share my journey. I intend this thread to also serve as a travel diary and will post some pics.

I have woken early and am thinking about the last minute things that need to be done. Tonight I will be sleeping on a plane (hopefully as it’s not the easiest way for me to get rest) and come morning, I will be in a different country.

This trip is meant to be one of simplicity. I am taking just a carryon bag and won’t be partaking in the usual touristy types of things. I won’t to live the life there and am open to whatever unfolds. I have booked the first couple of nights accommodation and then will play it by ear.

So come along and let the adventure begin.

Still our love remains

I will try to respond when I can...sticking to less threads now...self care and where I feel that I might be of some help..

@soul. A narcissistic therapist - No!!!!
Although hard, I'm sure it will make all the difference in the long run. At least you have Christmas off from those horrid exercises.

Re: My Thai Discovery Journey

Hi Everyone,

Sorry that I have been largely absent from the threads. Feels like I hardly have any energy for my own problems let alone anyone else’s. I see that some of you have changed your avatars. I have no idea what is happening in your day to day lives but I hope that you are as healthy and happy as you can be.

Well, it’s that time of year when we tend to reflect on the past twelve months and contemplate the coming ones. I remember thinking that I was glad 2016 was over and that 2017 would be a better. Wow - I sure got that prediction wrong with some major traumatic occurrences. My relationship with my partner turning so violent and damaging, my mother’s passing and the reaction I received from my siblings and now this accident and the toll it has taken on my physical well-being. Seems as if the attacks have come from everywhere.

I could ask myself why? but I will never get a plausible answer to that. What do you you do? Somehow, summon some strength to get out of bed each day and put one foot in front of the other in the hope that just maybe 2018 will bring some joy and happiness. The alternative is just so sad.

My recovery from my injuries continues to be slow but I am working hard at it. The physio reckons it will be another six months until I get reasonable functional use of my arm and hand. The pain is difficult to deal with. It’s constant and disturbs my sleep every night and exhausts me during the day. I’m still on prescription medication for it. I have seven medical appointments booked in the new year thus far. It seems to be all I do. Order an Uber car, go to these consultations or therapy sessions, go home. I miss doing the simple things I used to. I even miss being able to hang out the washing. I do what I can and often become frustrated by my limitations.

I went to the shops today with my daughter to get some groceries. It probably took an hour because of all the people loading up their trolleys with way too much Christmas food. I wondered about what sort of gatherings they would be attending or hosting - family and friends. I was so tired after the trip.

My Christmas will be a brunch here with just my son and daughter. Pleased to say that things with her are good at the moment. She will be preparing the meal as I am as good as useless in that realm at the moment. I recall a similar event last year - just the three of us and afterwards, we walked the dog. I really miss that. I don’t have enough energy to go walking just yet. Hopefully it will be something I can do again soon. Really missing my yoga sessions too.

Anyway, enough about me. I would love you all to have a brilliant Christmas and New Year period, in whatever way you celebrate it. I hope to be able to reach out a bit more soon. I want you to know that all your kind thoughts have been greatly appreciated and made me feel not so alone. Thank you so much!!!! You are all so beautiful!!! May 2018 be really really good for us all.
