My Thai Discovery Journey

My Thai Discovery Journey

Hi All,

Two weeks ago I decided that I needed to step outside my comfort zone and change my scenery by heading over to North Thailand for a month. It’s not a completely new experience as I have been in this area before but this time I will be there for longer, will venture further afield and will travel alone.

I am excited by this journey and intend it to be one of self discovery as much as absorbing the culture of this beautiful and friendly part of the world. My daily Yoga sessions and a Meditation Workshop have prepared me to be at peace with myself and being in this new environment will further facilitate a sense of calm as well as enlightenment.

I invite you to share my journey. I intend this thread to also serve as a travel diary and will post some pics.

I have woken early and am thinking about the last minute things that need to be done. Tonight I will be sleeping on a plane (hopefully as it’s not the easiest way for me to get rest) and come morning, I will be in a different country.

This trip is meant to be one of simplicity. I am taking just a carryon bag and won’t be partaking in the usual touristy types of things. I won’t to live the life there and am open to whatever unfolds. I have booked the first couple of nights accommodation and then will play it by ear.

So come along and let the adventure begin.

I am so glad you can go back to your friend’s place for a few days so there is someone looking after you. Thinking of you so much and hoping your recovery is as speedy as possible.

Have they given you an anticipated time frame ?

This will be a recovery adventure @frog. Will have a sling on for six weeks, then a nerve assessment.
Have slight sensation in three fingers and can move them a few mms.
Will be at least six months.
It will be a challenge no doubt.

Re: My Thai Discovery Journey

I have left hospital and am at my friend’s place for the next three days to rest and get better.

I have a new splint that I have to wear on my hand most of the time to stop it from clawing in too much. It took a lot of adjustments to make. OT and physio appts next week at the hospital for starters. Also have someone who will help me shower for the first couple of weeks.

Had X-rays before I left today and met with the therapists, social worker, pharmacy people and doctors. It was a busy time.

Still in a lot of pain but it’s getting better. No appetite, only on water crackers. The pain meds make me sick. Everything is such an effort. There is an improvement on yesterday so that is encouraging.

I woke up from a little nap and it just doesn’t seem real. Wish I could sleep for a few months and have it all better.

Such is life. Bummer that it’s my right side as that’s my dominant one.
