Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

@Former-Member Yum, peaches. Glad you got some rice. We had tuna, tomato, mayonnaise sandwiches again for dinner. It's my 'cooking' specialty, lol. Good idea to try for sleep after some TV. Hopefully the change around in the way you take the meds will help with that. Enjoy the endorphins from the physiologist session tomorrow.

Hello @Mazarita and @peace and all

I wonder how @eth 's going?i

What a gorgeous pic @PeppiPatty and it took you telling us about it to get @LittleBuddha to remember that he liked it too.

I had another day on public transport wasting some time ... good thing was cajoling son to buy shoes ... and I got him to get 2 pairs ... dress shoes and sandals ... what a TRIUMPH!

I know what you mean @Former-Member about structure and routine being important. Glad you faced some fear re hot yoga. ... the next big thing is aerial yoga apparently ... my niece does it ... it looks cool.

I think for me to take the sleep hygeine thing seriously ... I am going to have to buy a canvas awning to stop the street light shining in my bedroom window ... it drives me nuts. Then i am going to give me permission to have a nice tidy bedroom ... and tidy it up too.

cheers Apple

Hi @Mazarita @Former-Member

the picture is big......dont know where it is....someone gave it away..............

It took me AGES to draw,,,,the one mast sketch is free drawn, bleach, ink, pencil, crayon. small amount of photo transfer.....

I was under the most massive stress, someone was trying to take my children away from me........it viwasawful to even remember it...............

ripped torn and whethered is how I felt,,,,,I felt all ripped up.

Thank you so much

The picture meant so much to me. I painted another one and the person who bought it had a tantrum and ripped it up........unbelieveable ,hey.......this picture was given away and the other was really ripped up and the only one I have was that first one you did the video of............

Only until you were all talking about dreams, I wanted to display these.............

It feels like I just had so much aggression around me and I had to .......get rid of it and I have......

Re: Night Shift

I am ok ... I'd luv that avocado ... I am regretting eating out at the plaza but I will get over it ... more and more I will turn into a home girl and like you .. might have to make all the food myself .. but it might be worth it .. oh those naughty naughty boys... they try to sail a long way on a few dishes, dont they?

Its just manila files of music and a messy desk that I have let accumulate papers for years ... plus an old computer desk that I might put into the garage. I still vac and keep the bed and ensuite reasonable ... but decided to avoid the paperwork and being organised and try to get a life worth living. Staying up and chatting on the forum has improved my outlook ... better that self whipping about all the things I knew I had to do ... eg paperwork, bedroom and sleep hygeine ... I felt I couldnt justify spending the money to get the room totally dark ... but I finally can afford it ... so by Jan Feb I will see if it is possible for me to have a "normal" sleep pattern.

Yay I did do my taxes .. 2 students in my big business and still ATO wants to know everything ....

I am feeling a lot better but also mindful that I am protected by being on top level of meds ... but still losing my licence could have caused me to crumble with the shame and all the extra hassle ...

but today ... son and I managed to catch a bus together and go shopping. Whether or not it was the right bus .. is still open to debate ... we have a little mild punch and judy show on the back burner just so that we are sure that we are separate people and dont agree on everything...

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Appleblossom...

The yoga studio I go to has aerial yoga classes! I might try it next year

I had a decent sleep, but still woke up exhausted. I managed to go about my day though, which included the exercise physiologist session. That was good, but maybe not challenging enough.

We found an all vegan cafe today - we shared a sundried tomato tofu tart & a blueberry cashew cheesecake slice - nom nom! Delish! Especially the tart And instead of decaf coffee, which I usually drink - they had dandelion coffee - I liked it

I wanted to go swimming tomorrow, but my partner (probably wisely) insists I have a rest day. He gets worried if I start doing too many things all at once (because I then crash & burn!)

@PeppiPatty - the artwork is beautiful - interesting all the different media you used to create it - you could try to do some more

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

Hi all. Good to see you. I'll join in to the discussion a bit later when I have better net connection.

For now, I'm posting a quick message to @PeppiPatty to ask permission for a new video with the latest poem you posted. The one that begins with 'I look up'. I was playing around with it in the editing software last night and may be able to come up with another one. But I want to check that it's okay with you to do this again.

Look forward to catching up with everyone later.

Namaste @Former-Member

Even though you still felt tired, it's great you had a better sleep last night. May it continue. Again, kudos for getting to the physiologist despite feeling exhausted. Yum to the food, though I'm not a fan of dandelion coffee. Good idea to have a rest day. I know what you mean by crashing and burning from personal experience. As I've mentioned, I have a tendency to go full on or stop.

Speaking of which, I was up with the video editing overnight until about 7am this morning. I paid the price for doing that today with really exhausted, low energy feelings. But the creative/technical process is very hard to turn it off once it gets going. I enjoy it so much. I also find the overnight time a beautifully peaceful and quiet time to really focus on something.

@PeppiPatty Thanks for being okay with us collaborating in this unusual way. Yes, I really like your poems! They are inspiring me to media creativity again after six months of missing it, and I'm grateful. It is a quirky hobby to make little home-made videos with poems. But it's what I'm into so I'm going with it. This one is a bit different to the first but has a similar feel in some ways, though there are more varied images. Remember that if you are not keen on what I have done, I can always make it go away. I'm glad to be creatively playing anyway. Here it is:

Re: Night Shift

Wow @Mazarita another gorgeous meditation style video. The words and images really enrich each other.

@Former-Member You are probably fit enough to manage the aerial yoga ... Go for it ... contemplate the world hanging upside down ... very graceful too ...

getting the balance right ... is the thing to do.

it looks amazing and my niece is a fit basketball playing 13 year old. its not for me though

Cheers
