Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Yeah, I just realized that I keep thinking it's daylight out at morning but it's only 2 AM.

I don't have any lights on now, though, just the screens now.

I'm actually completely deaf, @Faith-and-Hope... I use american sign language. But thanks for the suggestion. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

@Snuchu I remember you saying you have a special headset that allow you to "feel" the beat of the music, is that a correct interpretation ?

Can you play a gentle beat, like, "turn down the music" in the form it is for you ? It might be helpful to have that gentle vibration happening, maybe ?

Just guessing by trying to imagine what you have described to us .......

❤️

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope, hmm... I could try that, but I'm not exactly in the mood for vibrations, but I'll try later if I still can't sleep.

Re: Night Shift

Can you feel the sound waves from the music @Snuchu
I had a completely deaf music student who could 'hear' the music from the difference in the vibrations of the sound waves. He even knew when he'd played the wrong note.
My Auslan (Aussie sign language ) became very good teaching him.

Re: Night Shift

Oh wow, that's awesome, @Kurra!

Yeah, I can feel vibrations, but not as deeply as that student. I would have to put volume to max to have decent vibrations. I also can follow beats. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

It might be worth trying to learn to play an instrument. That way you have s direct connection to the change in the vibrations. Each dound vibrates at a different speed.

Looks like the Barkeep is sleeping it off somewhere.

Orders anyone?

Re: Night Shift

@Kurra, I tried guitar but it didn't really work out. I do recognize the subtle differences in vibration too.

Also, I think you're speaking in the wrong thread as this is Night Shift, not Beer Garden. 😛

Oh, thanks @BlueBay!! Sending positve vibes your way too. 🙂 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, hope that stays that way.
