Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Decadian, you are a beautiful soul, so kind and caring, thank you, I am trying to make a real effort to contribute, I have met so many kind, caring people here.

Your son would be so proud to know you are helping people like me, thank you

I know I need to care for myself and I am really trying, I don't think my mess are working any more, I find my breathing is so bad and I am shaking so much, I suppose it is something I have to manage.

I get emailed all your lovely posts and I try to read as many as I can, my heart and we'll wishes go out to each and every one of you.

You all help me get through each day, knowing you are all so strong and fighting.

Hugs to all

@Jacques

We can only do our best - something that varies from day to day - from circumstance to circumstance

From where I stand - and I only know you from what you write - you are a keeper Mate - someone who cares enough to put themselves last - and I would not like you to change just yet - the time will come when you burst out of your cocoon - trust me - you have things you must do first - but never forget your inner self

About your meds and your breathing and your shaking - eg asthma medication

Are you using a puffer or spray for asthma

Because that can cause shaking - and an elevated heart beat - and just in case I would hope you can talk to your GP about that - because there can be ways of using your puffer with a spacer so it will work better and you will need less -

But please talk to your doctor first - and soon - this is Dr Decadian talking

I'm not a doctor - just being careful -

I understand @Former-Member

There are some weird people on-line - and good moderators are necessary

Though I do wonder why some of my posts are red-lighted - but never mind - this is part of what makes this a safe place to really open up

But if it all goes pear-shaped - the poor pears - why did they get this label - just think - that is not as bad as one might think - even in the middle of a pear-shaped event

When we start on the path of self-examination - we will slip back from time to time - but it's my belief that we never go back to the bottom - we are learning as we go - and we are finding ouselves in the process

And it is a fact that the world is full of strange people who get some kind of kick out of hurting other people - and I often wonder about the mind-set of such people

But thanks for telling me that - your team is obviously caring for your best interests - as are we all here

Re: Night Shift

Thank you @Decadian, I think very little of myself but others see me differently.

No breathing shaking and everything else is anxiety related, I had test done on my lungs and heart, all came back clear.

It never ceases to amaze me the impact mental health can have on our physical well being.

Gentle hugs @Decadian, I know this is a sensitive time of year for you.

Thank you for your ongoing support, guidance and friendship, it means a lot to me.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks Jacques

This year has been easier - I'm sure a lot of this has to do with these forums - and it is only a few days until the winter solstice - and then a few weeks until the anniversary

I am starting to sort out my trip - I like small cities - I got a map from a travel agency yesterday - I think planning a trip is great therapy -

Re: Night Shift

Thank you for your kind words @Former-Member.

I know there is grief wrapped up in here too, and the kind words you and others have sent my way is bringing me to tears, but that is good. I know I need to cry sometimes as a part of that grieving process. Crying in response to kindness is a much more gentle way of releasing the tears than through built-up anger and upset. That is probably a big part of how we can help each other here .......

When you are back on your feet, you might be able to take your dog to obedience classes where they can show you, hopefully, how to train him out of that aggressive response. Dogs are such cause and effect creatures that very often these things can be addressed with them in a relatively short space of time. Just having a (free) chat with an instructor might help to put your mind at ease that this can be improved.

I'm still around, if anyone is... Hey guys. 😄

I'm kinda off to a bad start out of the hospital, forgetting my meds and doing drugs... I plan to clean up my act again and tell my nurse.

Yeah @Snuchu, tell your nurse quickly about that. You will need help to get on top of it as soon as you can ❣

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member

I just found your "pear-shaped" post ......

I think you are right, many of us are feeling fragile and vulnerable at times, but there is another side to that story too. Sometimes things do go a bit pear-shaped, or even a lot pear-shaped, but we need to realise and understand that pear-shaped is recoverable, that painful wounds can heal, that broken pieces can be picked up and glued back together, and the missing pieces filled with fillers, or even something better .......

Here is a special quote I have found:

“When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.”

― Barbara Bloom

I find this inspirational ❣
