Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Do you think there's been a trigger to how you are feeling @Mazarita?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Faith-and-Hope, good that you are looking on the bright side of your husband leaving again and that you may get a better sleep tonight. I've been reading a bit about eating disorders since you've been talking about it. I have a friend with a kind of food addiction that has brought major problems in her life (huge weight gain and associated health problems). I realise your husband probably has an opposite kind of problem to this but it's been interesting to consider the wider issues associated with eating disorders. It's very hard to know how to help my friend and unfortunately all I can see is things getting worse for them. The best I can do is accept and love really.

@eth, I often get this unsettled feeling before going to bed really. Tonight though it's probably especially related to the waiting game on the video. I've been checking for messages from the writer many times throughout the day and evening and it looks as though she hasn't had a chance to even read my message to her yet (I sent it to her on Facebook). She accepted my friendship request earlier in the day so I was hoping for a response to the message fairly quickly. I just have to be patient, which is not a strong point in me really.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

@plasmo good that you are seeing your dr. you've mentioned having health problems quite a few times. I hope everything turns out to be not so serious or easily treatable.

Ah @Mazarita you know what they say - patience is a virtue - I say yeah - about that ..... I find it hard too. It's no wonder you're keen after all the hours you've put into it.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, good on you for getting yourself into bed even though you were in the middle of watching something.

@eth, yeah, the patience thing. I do get easily agitated inside about things even when it's not at all apparent to others. Sometimes I think my bipolar is a nervous system disorder of some kind. Or perhaps it's that I'm in a state of inner 'hypervigilance' most of the time, again without it being apparent in my outward manner. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. Mostly I just feel kind of wired, as you described it, and that's probably just the way I'm wired. Whatever the reason, it seems I just have to find a way to live with it, which I have done to a fair extent over time, even if the shape of my life does not fit the 'norm'.

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope yeah it should be ok

Re: Night Shift

Hi again. I'm back. I am also wired from being overtired. Thanks @Mazarita for your kind words before. I would also be waiting on the edge of my seat. Patience about that kind of stuff isn't my virtue either. @eth I feel for you with your neighbours. I would always be highly strung with them next door. I'm struggling with the wind in the new house let alone your neighbours. I think I would freak out. @plasmo good to hear your going to the doctor. Hopefully you'll find some peace of mind. Hi @Faith-and-Hope. I hope you sleep well without WH. Do you have many nights on your own.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, there's even the possibility of getting no reply at all about the video, which would be the worst of all. But even if that happens, I will get over it, once I've gone through the emotional ride with it all. Just in the thick of it at the moment. I do get quite obsessed with these projects.

Re: Night Shift

@eth. I don't tend to take my medication at night if I miss it because I think it keeps me awake. I guess I should review this as I'm awake anyway.

Re: Night Shift

I hear you @Mazarita and echo what you said.

Hey @Former-Member I do freak out when they fight but tonight I'm just angry and even wider awake because of that. Luckily I have two really nice neighbours in the block here and it's only 9 flats, not one of those huge rabbit warrens.
