Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. Yeah I guess I have my therapist to fall back on. This therapist tends to think of my stuff as cPTSD. I don't have flashbacks and haven't dreamt about it for ages but I guess I'm surprised that I still have such a big bag of emotions from it. I'm so glad you have no regrets. That makes me feel good😊

Sweet dreams @Former-Member.

What do you have planned for today @Mazarita?

Re: Night Shift

@eth, the plumber is coming sometime this morning to check out a leak we had in one of the wardrobes during the big rain just recently. So need to be around and awake for that. Will have to miss ukelele class because of it, dammit, but really I haven't had enough sleep to make it out to that anyway. Bit disappointing but also good not to have to walk on my increasingly sore feet at the moment. They are better when rested and it seems best to do that until I have a better idea what's going on with them, rather than push through and make it worse as I was doing. After the plumber, I'm pretty sure I will need some more sleep. What about you today?

Re: Night Shift

Sorry to hear that your feet are getting worse @Mazarita. Probably a good thing that you can rest them a lot today. Hope the plumber is prompt so you can get some sleep. I'm getting tired again too and hope to sleep some more. I've very little to do today, I planned it that way so that any last minute things before I go can happen. Am almost 100 % organized for the trip, just need to try to pack my gear smaller for the car and sort out the food that's coming with us (already have it but some of it can't really be packed in advance). And I'll visit my neighbour at some stage with a christening gift for her grand daughter. They're having a big fat Greek christening this weekend which I was invited to but I'd already commited to my trip before they set the date.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. Good on you for being so organised about getting everything ready for trip in advance. It's great when we can space these things out rather than stress ourselves at the last minute. Nice that you have a gift for your neighbour and that you have someone so close who you see regularly and are so friendly with. Partner has just awoken so I might take off too at this point to have a chat while he is getting ready for work. Lovely to catch up with you again.

Hi @Decadian

Yes, what you say makes sense. I might even talk about it with my psychiatrist. I feel so wound up in the sessions I get to the point where I feel like trashing his office and really loosing my cool. Just because the memories of fighting to survive come to the surface and I feel the reaction.

Thank for taking the time to respond with excellent insight. So I have to change my mantra to I feel whacko in his office because we are dogging in an area that illicits a whacko human response..
