Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @eth, yes, it's so good to catch you at the same time this morning. A friendly hug headed your way in celebration! Thanks for the well wishes on the day. Same to you! Yes, I'm up early enough now for hydrotherapy despite editing last night/this morning when I 'should' have been sleeping. Caught a couple of extra hours since then and had a great dream. Much better mood for dreaming well! Hope your dinner with mate goes very nicely tonight.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope, happy birthday week to you and your daugher. 🙂

Hi everyone else. I've only just got up and can't quite get my head around tagging everyone. But sending good vibes to everyone for this day.

Re: Night Shift

I have got to rush off now, and it's going to be a busy day juggling commitments for all the non-drivers still in my zone.

Have a great day everyone, and I will check back in at some point.

Hugs to all

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita thankyou for the well wishes too. How fantastic that you had a good dream this time. It makes such a difference doesn't it? I really don't feel like doing anything today but I know if I do what's planned I'll feel better for it. Pushing myself to go shopping before it's too busy up there. Hugs back to you 🙂

Showers and food Teej

We do the best we can - there are days when I would have to have shower-related OCD to get in the shower - the recess is too small and if I am cold because the weather is cold - ah - forget it

But a bath on a cold night - hot enough to peel the skin slightly - oh yeah - I like that -

Re: Night Shift

@eth,

Had a really bad one just recently, along the lines of the one you mentioned but couldn't really talk more than that. The one this morning was a wonderful change as I had noticed my mood was dipping overall because of the bad dreams. This good one had to do with getting very involved with someone but managing to maintain emotional independence, something I've often struggled with over my life. I fear intimacy with people because of this in real life. My dream seemed to be telling me I can have more confidence in myself now and perhaps let myself go a bit more with that.

Yes, the struggle for motivation but feeling better afterwards. But even the taxing nature of yesterday's class has me feeling better today for meeting that challenge. Even just for the small sense of achievement of getting out of the flat is big for me. Hope you make it to the shops and get that feeling too. It's only two days to go before departure for you isn't it? Will miss you while you're away and look forward all the more to when you get back. So looking forward to your stories about the festival.

Re: Night Shift

Sorry @Mazarita we must've been typing at the same time. Sorry to hear you also had one of those dreams. Great message you had from this morning's one. Thankyou for sharing.

If I stay on here I'll end up not going out so I'm signing off. I do think about everyone when I'm not on here. It will be a bit strange being off-line for a few days, but good for me I think.

See you later.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, good on you for getting out. 🙂 It was a very good thing when I had a break from the forum while away a couple of months ago, gave me a better perspective on the balance with these things I think (which I've probably lost again a fair bit since I've been back, haha). But, yes, I think you will enjoy the break. Sending best wishes for that to be the case anyway!

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita

Chronic pain has caused me to become happily isolated - but there are times when it can become unbearable because stress can send me into a tail-spin

Easter was agony - I had injured one of my feet and for four days of bad weather I was sitting with my leg elevated in the other lounge chair and I got sick of myself - I couldn't even get to the shops let alone taking a long walk

I feel people who read what I write get the best of me too - I was - I guess I still am - a moderator for a website overseas - but an issue arose and I have told them I had computer problems - which was true - but I haven't made any effort to go back there

As you said somewhere - I know you took some time out from this website - and this is wise when we have enough going on - I understand - we can only give of ourselves when we are up to it

You are very good with your writing - very supportive and understanding -

I value you - but whatever it is - we need to be able to reach out to people when life is tough - and I have found that there is a level I won't go beyond with the way I feel with the people in my life - but in this website I have found that I can

I took a long walk yesterday - and my back was pretty sore after it - but I like to walk and do my best thinking then
