Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

My tiredness has just really caught up with me. I'll say goodnight and likely see you later @plasmo and you tomorrow @Former-Member. Hope you both sleep well when it does happen.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @eth

I was so tired when I first got home. Now I've got my second wind however with an early start I really should get back to bed and at least enjoy the warmth and let my body rest.
Sleep well tonight

@Decadian

The idea feels good but the reality is uncomfortable. I rang the GP and he faxed through a stronger anti-inflammatory. It will take a few days to make some difference. I need to get a new bed but like so many things it's a matter of saving up enough money.
Oh well, that's simply the way it is.
My leccy blanket is a god send. I've become quite thin so I'm feeling the cold a lot more this year.

Re: Night Shift

Ah yes @Kurra '

You have ankylosing spondilosis - sorry about the spelling

That is painful - do you have it in your spine

Yes - I know - you would need a better bed - my stars - I slept on a bad mattress for a long time - and when my son in law carried it out for the guys to bring my mum's bed in - the old mattress sort of folded in half and looked like a piece of ancient soggy cheese

And that's the way it is for you - and I have no idea of your financial situation - but seeing we spend a lot of time in bed - we need to put it at a priority -

And a saggy, horrible bed - I wonder if the Sleep Police would have something to say about that

I would give you one if I could - I feel that strongly

But then - my bed is second hand - that's the way it is

I hope you can find a comfy spot though - maybe there will be one somewhere there for you

My father worked in Aboriginal education most of his life and spent the last 10 years of his life doing that in Canada. His ashes were put in the river off the tip of Victoria Island in Ottawa and I visited there not long before Chief Spence did her long fast there. Such an honor.

Hi @eth

Wow. That is huge.

For all I hope for Aboriginal people, here and elsewhere, your father was right there in the midst of it. You must be so proud !! Thank you for sharing these special thoughts and memories with us.

So in awe .....
