Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@BlueBay, your husband putting his arms around you even when you were angry with him shows that he must love you a lot. I used to get very angry with my partners too when in such highly emotional states. I say partners (plural) because not all my relationships lasted through these kinds of highly emotional states in me. It can become just too hard on them to live with after a long time unless they love us very deeply. I am so glad to hear you say that you will talk to your psychiatrist about your self harming, about your yoyo feelings and about how painfully troubled you seem to be so often. I feel there must be something more they can do to help you. You laying things on the table more fully may give your psychiatrist a wake up call. If they are not able to help you more than at present, I would consider trying to find another psychiatrist as it seems to me that you may need more medical assistance than you are getting at present. I hope you don't mind me saying these things. I have followed some of your posts over time and am concerned at how frequent and lingering these troubled states of mind are for you. Bear in mind that I am not professionally trained in mental health and have only my own experience and the posts I have read of yours to go by. But it seemed worth mentioning some of my impressions anyway in the hope that they might be of some assistance. More hugs headed your way!

Re: Night Shift

@Silenus, huggles back at you. Love that word.

Hi @comet, glad to see you posting again. 🙂 No problem with delayed posts. Real life should come first in all cases (says she who spends too much time on here really, haha). You are not far south of where I live on the GC. We copped the weather yesterday. Sounds like it has been worse down your way. Glad you have taken up the Phams info. There is usually a waiting list but if you can get onto the program eventually it can be really helpful, at least that's been my experience. I gave up the green two months ago and love the feeling of being free of it at last. Slowly cutting out the tobacco now, down to about 5-6 per day at the moment. No rambling that I could see in your post but feel free to do that anyway if you want. Sometimes it's good to get a whole lot of things out there at once. Hope your day goes really well too!

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member 🙂

Still not sure how this site works yet 😞

Separated, so haven't got the critters with me 😞 But yes, at times 3 dogs and 2 or 3 cats......not much room for two people hahaha.

A lot of people share beds with their pets, well....the animals allow the owners a little bit of room 😄 😄 😄

We had a cat years ago who had to get into bed, and sleep at my feet. No idea how he managed, I mean...breathing???

@Silenus Hi big brother 😄 😄 😄

I still rarely visit, I miss the quick and simple BB layout. I overwhelm too easily, so scrolling etc ...I give up quickly 🙂

Lots of hugs to you both 🙂 🙂 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Hey, @eth, @Mazarita, @Silenus, and everyone else...

I'm doing well so far, but I've used up my supply of anti-anxiety meds, and I'm about to use my emergency anti-psychotic meds. This certain med doesn't really help me, but I'm still hopeful for this time... if not, then I might have to go back to the hospital before the night is up. 😞

I'm sorry to hear about your issues, @BlueBay. I hope your psych helps.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @BlueBay

I'm so glad you got a message from @Fancy_Pants -

I did go through years of despair years and years ago - and I am thinking back to that time and wondering what it was that I needed

I had a team - but nothing like I have now - and what is available for people with Chronic Pain or Mental and Emotional lack of well-being - and whatever Mental Illness truly is

There was nothing much for me looking for support for my adopted son - and to this day - what could anyone have done - but then

Now we do have teams of people who help - and for me - I just wish to hell the system did not stress me out by failing me - and last week I fell of my perch

So knowing this - how can I best help? - how can we best help?

I know you are reaching out for help and that you are genuine in wanting that help - you are not feeling sorry for yourself - you need something - something said, something done - and oh sheesh - how often have I been then wondering what the hell I could ask for

Maybe this is how it is for you - but this is true - you are not getting anything out of this - you have had years of stress - your MIL and your mother and other stuff - and your job - I believe the evil trash-ignorer has gone - but still work is overpowering

Was it you who wanted to stay home and hide? I forget - but whatever this is

I really care - and I feel as if I can almost touch all of this - but I can't

You need to be loved I think - and right now your husband is preoccupied - and if he did turn from his mother - whom he has cared for for decades now - for a moment - and see how lost you are - this might help

Rest assured - we do care

Decadian

Re: Night Shift

Hi @BlueBells,

i lost my two dogs when I separated too.😔 I then adopted my rescue dog and he is nuts but fun. Hopefully you'll be able to get one again soon. I love your sense of humour. My wussy dog climbs under the covers when it's cold and has to touch my body the whole length. Great for heating but then it drives me mad and I kick him out. Don't know how he breathes either. Cheers😊💜

Re: Night Shift

My short-haired domestic tabby cat is my life. Rescued him at 8 weeks. He is now 7 years. Had him before I was diagnosed with bipolar. He has seen it all. Psychosis, self-harm etc. Was told when I got him that male cats are especially loyal. So true! He is very split. Twice a day I give him his 'special treat'. Half a jar of pecks paste, anchovette fish spread around the edge of a saucer. He loves it. He won't touch milk. Sleeps on the bed with me snuggling up. Even walks down my little street with me & waits for me to return from the shops in the end end house garden & we walk home together. Neighbours say he thinks he's a dog. (He does love a dirt-bath). He is my best mate. Wouldn't trade him for anything or anyone. The sane site has been a wonderful addition to my life, full of so many thoughtful, intelligent & inspiring people. I have learned so much. Have lovely afternoons people. Thank you.
