Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita I didnt get up until a couple of hours ago but as I mentioned my sleeping pattern is out of whack and no I dont mind the suggestions at all Im really not too concerned about the voice thing though its no big deal but thank you. Crohns you poor thing I used to know someone who had it and I feel for you I really do for me I had massive nerve damage to the entire colon/large bowel/large intestine so it all had to go I was left with about a quarter of an inch of rectum and thats it I was meant to have a bag but the surgeon did a relatively new procedure at the time and used a clip to join things however I had a whole lot of complications and another 10 emergency surgeries and have ongoing problems now and am now also inoperable as too much work has been done and they cant tell whats what so thats me as far as crohns I know my girlfriend used to use alot of peppermint oil before eating a herbal tablet called mintec which is just peppermint oil in capsule form she used to have it about 20mins before food which helped alot from memory and she took an antidepressant which also helped even though she didnt have depression they helped keep her healthy. I bet the weather there is alot worse then here although it has been raining since about 4 that I could hear and seems to keep coming with strong winds expected tmrw hope you have had a lovely stress free day.

Hi @Angel333 I didnt have IBD I wish I have had a total colectamy so no large intestine/colon/large bowel at all I was left with a quarter of inch of rectum and thats it but it sounds like he is onto something that works which is great it can be a horrible condition from what I have seen and heard. Tell him to hold on remission will come a peppermint oil capsule is great for comfort with eating they are called mintec taken about 20 mins before food. I hope he feels well soon.

@Faith-and-Hope, sending you fond wishes for your family reunion.

@Former-Member, yes it's pretty intense here with the rain and has been again bucketing down in the hours since my last post. Goodness knows what that park will look like tomorrow! Made a few checks and this block of flats is holding out okay but there are lots of road closures where I am due to flash flooding. I was a bit stir crazy, restless and agitated for a while earlier today but settled down after I meditated (which turned into a half hour sleep).

@msbertie, I really feel for everything you have been through with physical health, relationship trauma, current isolation and mental health challenges. I hope we are able to help fill the gap with what you are missing with social contact at present. Do you have any thoughts of moving somewhere more populated where you might be able to re-engage a bit more with other people at some time in the future?
